On Route to Starbase 157 - New Beginings

It didn’t take Viyara long to pack up all her belongings. She’d always preferred to travel lightly. Much easier to change locations that way. With one crate, a travel bag and a satchel sitting in the middle of her quarters, she went once more through every drawer to make sure she really hadn’t forgotten anything. In her nightstand drawer she found indeed something hiding at the very back: a small, flat stone. It was mostly unremarkable grey colour, but at a closer look small purple markings were visible. Picking the smooth stone up, she looked at it for a moment with a pensive expression before slipping it into the pocket of her slacks.Letting her gaze wander through the room one last time and picking up her satchel, Viyara tapped her com badge and said, =/\= Nazeen to Transporter Room 1. My things are ready to be beamed onto the transport vessel. =/\=
=/\= Acknowledged Ensign, =/\= came the prompt reply. =/\= Shall I beam you over at the same time? =/\=
=/\= No, I have one last thing to do, =/\= Viyara replied and turned around. As she reached the door, she heard the familiar sound of the transporter as her belongings were beamed away.
Without a backwards glance, she left her quarters for the last time. She wasn’t sad to leave this ship. Sure it had been a good time and she’d gotten along well with most of the crew. Yet she was getting restless again and a few people were getting too close. So she had ceased the opportunity for a transfer without giving it a second thought.
But before she left there was one place she wanted to go to one last time. Thus she found herself crawling through one of the many jefferies tubes till she arrived at “her” spot, where gravity was a little below normal and where the humming of the warp core sounded like music to her. While she knew that she didn’t have much time till she had to be in the transporter room, Viyara sat down and let herself just be for a few minutes.
When she eventually arrived in the transporter room she was both relieved and if she was quite honest with herself also a little bit sad, that no one was there but the technician. Stepping onto the transporter pad without any words of farewell, she merely said, “Energize.” A moment later she felt the tingling sensation of the transporter beam as she was dematerialized and then dematerialized on the transport vessel that would take her to Starbase 157.
~Ensign Nazeen, Science
The pilot turned to her as she arrived green eyes flashing in mischief. “Welcome aboard the Jolly Roger,” he said with a freckled grin, “Actually it’s the Samoset but I fancy myself a bit of a pirate so I take artistic license”.
