“Transport inhibitors block the effects. We could use the holodecks to create a temporarily safe haven. The sickbay also still has one unless Dr. Grey has disposed of it.”

Liam attempted to get more information on the exact location on Risa. If anyone sent to investigate could shut the energy down, then it would lessen the strain on the ship. It was a faint hope, but he figured it was worth a try. His attention returned to Kurok.

“How much time do you think is reasonable for people to get to safety?”

Kurok plugged the ship’s schematic into the computer and ran a simulation. His face screwed up a little, “Looks like 2 minutes, not bad, but in a firefight with another vessel…hmm, a long time”.

Liam frowned. He didn’t like the sound of the last part as he debated on an alternative plan. His fingers tapped the panel beside the buttons.

“That’s not too bad, if we have forewarning. If we don’t, that puts us at high risk.”

Suddenly an alarm sounded on the panel, Kurok’s eyes shot up “Holy Hannah, someone’s about to pump toxic gas into sickbay one!”

His conversation was cut off when the alarm made him jump. Liam turned to his fellow officer only to receive terrible news. His mind went blank for a micro second. The man’s knuckles whitened then loosen, but his palm grew reddish. Red from the heat building up. He exhaled then reined in his emotions. No time to panic or get upset.

“I’m not sure who’s bright idea that was, but I doubt it was Dr. Grey’s. Can we shut down the power or reverse the pumps from here?”

While he waited for an answer, he tried to calculate the exact time they had before the gas entered the sickbay. He felt the two minutes it took to evacuate the crew into the holodecks were too long. As a precaution, he contacted sickbay.

Almost immediately the raised voice of the chief medical officer answered =^=Computers trying to gas us, EMH tried to kill T’pon, We’re trying to beam out=^= He then started calling out to the people in the background something about grouping together.

Kurok froze and looked at Madison, “They have five seconds.”

Suddenly he clapped, “Bridge managed to transport them to sickbay three, whew!”

Then six seconds later the red warning lights went off as the computer intoned =/\=60 seconds until warp core breach =/\=

OOC: I’ve lost track a little. Is this still happening in the transporter room or are they elsewhere. If they are say, in Engineering, then I would have cross-posted my bridge comm. ~Linds

OOC: As far as I knew, the Transporter room. Liam hasn’t had a reason to move and thus been trying to resolve things from here. The GMT can correct me though.

IC: At Kurok’s words, Liam’s fingers stopped clicking on the buttons. His face turned to face the man as his worry and tension faded into relief. He braced his arms against the console for support. His mind began to collect itself until the red light splashed across his face. It renewed his fear almost instantly.

“What the-” Liam quickly brought up data over the breach’s cause.

Right throughout the ship power was going down starting at engineering and the bridge and moving throughout the ship shutting down any chance of averting the core breach. However, the console Liam was working on hadn’t gone dark yet. That was when the computer identified the source of the code coming into the ship, it was coming from a point half a mile off the port of the Athena, something was out there and was using a back door program implanted in Athena’s systems to control the ship.

Kurok grimaced, “Oh yes, lets shut down the warp core, then our transporter inhibiting shields go down and we’re a sitting duck, should have stayed in bed this morning,” as he complained his fingers were flying, ‘If we could find some way to shut down whoever’s doing this!”.
