The scans showed a process in motion that by all intents and purposes should have been impossible. One of the babies showed a faint transporter signature and using another form of energy freely between her and her sister she absorbed herself inside her twin and brought their combined super dense mass into symmetry that allowed them to exist in one space simultaneously. The scan also showed that the “babies” head was down and engaged and that T’Pon was beginning to show dilation. The process was well underway.
T’Pon sighed as she mind-melded with her daughter “Thank you Meryidiyth,” she breathed, “Much better”.

Benjamin looked curiously between the now raised legs of the Vulcan and his tricorder “Interesting” He put the scanner down at a nearby table “One of my first duties on a starship was delivering a baby, my fellow doctors called me ‘the baby whisperer’ for years afterward.” He said seemingly absentminded “Let’s hope I haven’t lost my touch eh?” It was as if he was speaking to the yet unborn babies and not any of the people surrounding him. “All right, I’m beginning to see dilation,” He said calmly. Compared to what he had been doing this was positively relaxing “Doctors Leman and Niles, I’ll assume that this your first Vulcan/Catian hybrid child aswell” He said with a smile that was hard to classify “What are your recommendations?” He asked in a rather professorial tone. Mixed species births were always harder as there were fewer examples to compare each pregnancy to, he knew enough about Vulcan and Catian births to make some educated guesses and scanners helped, but nothing compared to having other professionals give advice.
Dr. Grey - CMO
The majority of Jessica’s attention was on her patient, but she couldn’t help but listen to Grey’s mumbling and a small upturn danced on her lips as it appeared that he was talking to the unborn children. His question brought her attention firmly back to the patient as she mentally thought about what she knew about the relevant races and their experiences with childbirth. Looking down at the woman on the biobed, she smiled softly and then turned her gaze to the CMO. “With any birth, I prefer taking a hands off approach unless a different desire is indicated by the parents or by the data,” she responded, confidently. “I feel like I’m more support staff than anything, but hybrid births always require a little more attention to ensure that there is biological compatibility.”
Dr. Lemann
S’Raal cleared his throat and seemed to be about to say something then his ears flared red and he couldn’t seem to finish what he’d started.
T’Pon chuckled deep in her throat and then spoke up in his place. “You’d probably better be aware that S’Raal and I could not seem to overcome our genetic differences and create progeny. However, Counsellor Laraan aided us with some Heleen energy manipulation enabling the initial conception”.
Ears still flaming at the memory S’Raal added, “We’re pretty sure that it’s the Heleen energy and influence that’s allowing Meryidiyth to control the transformations.”
The dilation was coming on a pace and was about 6cm.
