“Pesky things,” Barclay said making course adjustments under the close scrutiny of NE Barnes. “But all wormholes give a burst of them on opening and closing. Which reminds me, they’re going to see us coming. Rura Penthe is rather heavily fortified, perhaps a plan is in order?”

The phaser-rifle wielding CO stepped back onto the bridge and Koraia gave Barclay a critical once-once as if she didn’t fully trust him. Not that expected anyone would blame her at all. “Alright. Away team is off, let’s get out of her. We’ve got a chase to narrow down,” she said simply as she moved back to stand near her command chair.
Barclay gave her a little wave and when the return was somewhat stony he flinched ever so slightly and went back to inputting codes into the navigation computer from his attached homing beacon.
She gave R’han a look that said, well? Information was pretty damn key at the moment.

“The shuttle is difficult to scan while in transwarp. However when she pops out of transwarp there are a precursor of neutrinos.” He tapped a few keys on the tactical station. “I will begin a preemptive scan of these micro-particles, we could program the computer to auto fire in that direction. A full photon spread should neutralize the target… without needing precise coordinates.”

It was good to know that even in a different universe, some things didn’t change. Ghubari did her best to hide her amusement. “No. We need that shuttle intact. We can however program a torpedo or two to be low-yield. Do some damage, but not be destructive. “
Fl. Captain Koraia, CO
“The fewer the weapons at a low yield will not have guaranteed results.” R’han looked at the data. “Twelve torpedoes in a dodecagon cage should catch the shuttle with two, but no more than three detonations.” He tilted his head. “30% yield should overwhelm their shields and knock the crew about pretty good…”
Barclay clapped his hands together just once in an expression of happiness, realising he’d become visible again he seemed to shrink into himself a little as he exclaimed. “I would appreciate getting the Cyrano back in one piece”. He smiled a little nervously, eyes darting around.

R’han looked at him, “As long as we don’t get a lucky shot and hit them dead on with one, but what’s the chances of that.” R’han knew exactly what the chance of that was, but he was going to make Barclay do the math.
R’han
Barclay looked at him in horror, raised a finger to make a point and then subsided with an audible sigh of resignation.
She was anxious to catch up but the captain understood that she couldn’t will anything into being. Well, unless she suddenly got the Prophets to chime in, but even that would be an iffy outcome. “Do what you need to, Commander, to keep the ship in a functional piece,” she told R’han, settling into her chair finally. She was aware that she had the phaser rifle still, so rested it against the side of her seat, one hand on top to grab it if necessary. She shot Barclay a slightly wary glance, but the empath sadi nothing, just keeping her mind open to what was happening around her.
There were no guarantees in war. He would be in even more trouble if the Cyrano got a few shots in and killed a crew member because he set the yield too low. “By your command.” He decreased the yield to 28%. Even a direct hit shouldn’t destroy the ship.
Barclay mouthed “25%” at R’han with a slightly pained look on his face as he mentally calculated the costs of repair.
“What can you tell me about this Rura Penthe, Mister Barclay?” she asked.
Fl. Captain Koraia, CO
Barclay grimaced a bit but then warmed to his topic. “After Intendant Kira Nerys became slightly indisposed, Intendant B’Elana of Ardana rose to power and used Rura Penthe as a base to try and replicate the talents of a being known as Kes. In the overthrow of the Cardassian/Klingon alliance, Kes played no small part in ripping an armada of their ships to scrap by the use of her deranged mind and her hatred of the people who killed her love, Neelix.”
He suddenly realised that he was reading like a bad Mills and Boon convention and focused himself. No one has seen B’Elana but intel says that the lights are still on in the lab and someone is continuing the experiments. It has a sophisticated shield system and numerous nasty automated gun stations in and around the complex which is carved out of the planets bedrock. We have a deep-cover agent on the ground there but they’re not going to be able to do much to help you.” Barclay had been flicking through files on the console, “He a dead ringer for your CMO as it turns out”.

“It seems as though people having doubles is not particularly an uncommon thing at the moment,” Luka said softly.
