Dayner’s final stop would be to check in with his Department Head. This was the check-in that he was most looking forward to. He was eager to meet some of the people he would be work with and very keen to see the environment and equipment he would be working in.

As he walked his way through the never ending maze of the Ship’s Corridors he was deep in thought. He was thinking about the time ahead of him, what he’ll be doing and most importantly thinking of how he can show that he is going to a valuable addition to the Science Department and the Ship’s Crew.

Soon enough Dayner would find himself on Deck 13, standing in front of the CSO’s Office Door. A small feeling of nervous excitement stirred within him, after all first impressions matter. With that thought in mind, he tugged the bottom of his Uniform Tunic down and smartened himself up before pressing the door chime and waiting.

Liam looked at his clock. He tried to recount the last time he had injected himself, but it slipped his mind. The parasite wiggled in discomfort causing him to open a drawer. His hand retrieved an injector with the proper dosage and he held it to his neck. Before he could press the button, his ears caught the chiming sound.

“Come in,” Liam said.

He pressed the button and waited for the radiation to pour into his system. Ruuk would catch sight of him pulling it away and returning it into the drawer, shutting it close. Liam’s hands intertwined as he placed his elbows onto the desk and studied the young officer. Acting as nothing unusual had happened.

“Have a seat,” he indicated to the chair in front of him.

“Thank You Sir” Dayner said politely as he lowered his frame into seat.

When Ruuk sat, Liam pulled out a PADD. It held all the information over the young Ensign, but he didn’t look at it. Instead, his eyes were on Ruuk.

“Any prior experience in the science field?”

“Only a little Sir” He said in response to the CSO’s question. “Aside from my studies, I spent sometime working in lab whilst I was still at home. I was just assisting, so it was nothing too serious.” Dayner Explained.

“What motivated you to decide to settle into the science department?” Liam continued, his hand then picked up the PADD.

His pen tool jotted something down on the device and he continued to look at the Ensign. He seemed to be waiting for the next answer.

“It has been my passion since I was a boy sir.” Dayner answered. “I have found that the Sciences have occupied my thoughts and time like nothing else I have known. I feel it would be a shame to not continue down the path of something that fascinates me so. Also feel like I can apply myself best in this field.”

Liam nodded, and another quick flourish of his pen happened. His eyes turned upward in thought before he inquired farther on the subject. He never truly enjoyed this aspect of the report since it would’ve been just a series of questions and notes.

“What is some of your favorite subjects in the area? Try to be specific. Your profile tells me, but I prefer to hear it from my officers and get an idea of who they are.”

“Well Sir…” Dayner began to explain “The Angosian are naturally a very intellectual species. Over my - albeit - short life thus far, I have sought to advance my knowledge of the Sciences at an equal rate so as to have a deep understanding in most topics. I have done this in an effort to make myself a versatile and useful member of a team or crew.”
As the words left his lips Dayner knew that this answer would most likely displease his Department Head because of the lack of specifics within it. However, Dayner thought it best to speak truthfully.
