Ghubari snorted. “I’m probably terribly clichéd as a Captain, but I like my hard alcohol. I can handle a cocktail, but there’s a point where you just want the harder stuff.” She gave him a slightly lopsided grin. “But I’m also open to anything new.”

Stark shook his head ruefully “Count me out people, I’m the universe’s cheapest drunk. Just a sniff and I’m gone. I’m game to try new experiences but alcohol isn’t one of them.” He laughed a little “My roommate at the academy used to swear he saw me stumble after using cough syrup”.

Orvos nodded thoughtfully. “I’m not sure holodeck alcohol will have any real effect on anyone, so hopefully you won’t catch a sniff then?” he inquired.

“It is synth, at most,” Koraia confirmed. “But Stark doesn’t like even the hint of feeling out of control.” She grinned at her chosen brother.

Orvos tapped the chair at the table with his stick, indicating that Stark could take a seat. “And what do Caitians drink, might ask?” asked Orvos curiously before a waiter came up.

“She’ll have a Lightning Surprise,” Orvos told the waiter. “I’ll take an Aurora Shake.”

“Lightning surprise: that sounds interesting,” she said with a laugh.

Stark smiled “This Caitian drinks warm milk, full cream, with a hint of nutmeg, and a dash of cinnamon if I’m feeling really daring, which I am”. He gazed at them both with a look of slight consternation on his visage “You’d be amazed the comments people back at the Academy made over my choice of beverage, many of them seemed to think it was the funniest thing in the Universe”. He waggled one ear, “At least they did until they saw the look on my face”.

“You and I would have had fun at the Academy, I suspect,” Ghubari said with a grin. “How young and eager I was back then.” She shook her head. “Funny how I’ve grown to appreciate being back home on the Plateau, though my heart will always be in the stars.”
