The doors to the Ensign’s quarters slid closed behind him as he entered and walked to the middle of the room. Standing there for a moment he took a deep breath in. The room didn’t have any particular smell to it, nor did he expect it to, but it was the first of many new things to sense and experience aboard the Ship.

After taking in his surrounds for another few moments Dayner walked over to his bed and gently placed his bag down on it. He didn’t carry many personal affects with him, but the items that he had brought were the things most treasured by him. These objects alway managed to ease the anxiety and loneliness that often manifests itself when you are away from home, missing the ones you love and have a longing for that feeling of familiarity.

However, now was not the time for sentimentality, there was much to be done! There would be plenty of time for unpacking and home making later on, so that could wait.
Dayner exited his room and began to make his way through the vessel towards Sickbay, trying his best to act with an air of decorum and avoid looking like a child in a toy store. There was no denying that Dayner was excited about his first post-accademy posting, and in eager anticipation of joining the crew he had read up on as much about the Ship as he could.

After a brisk journey through the ship he found himself in Sickbay. Now there was a familiar smell - that of a Medical environment. Unfortunately he had grown to know the smell quite well. Unlike some, Dayner never resented visiting the Sickbay to check-in, he had always found Hospitals and the people who work in them very fascinating.

He tried to attract the attention of someone whilst trying his utmost not to get in the way of the work that was going around him.
