A hand touched her shoulder and Ghubari found herself looking into the eyes of Kallen Reese.

The woman’s presence startled her. Kallen wasn’t real. She was dead. And yet, her touch felt real. A chill ran down her spine.

“Things that are certain, are not, and things that are not, are more certain than certainty itself”. Kallen said with deep compassion in her eyes.

Riddles. Ghubari sighed inwardly as she gazed at the possible apparition. “Where am I?” she asked, though the edge in her voice hinted at the anger that made it more like a demand.

Another voice standing over the trapped woman chimed in as Adam Chryst turned to look at the Captain. “The Koraia is adversarial, linear, incomplete”.

The Koraia? That was a new one. The situation was certainly surreal so her incredulity certainly felt appropriate. And yet, even as she gazed at Adam, she felt a knot of emotions begin to work its way through her.

Kallen continued without skipping a beat, “The mirror needs the Koraia and the Koraia needs the mirror, they seek each other”.

“Balance is required” Chryst finished turning back to the trapped woman.

“Mirror? What mirror?” she asked the representations of people she had known and cared about.

Kallen looked at Chryst who looked back at Kallen and then suddenly in strange unison with voices that sounded at once discordant and harmonic they both spoke and a hundred voices joined them.

“The Mirror is Broken, The Koraia must fix it”.

In the background a dark skinned being moved furtively.

Okay, she was used to bizarre, but this was certainly amping up things by a few notches. Still, she had had at least some experience taking things in stride that otherwise would make the average person freak out. Exhaling shakily, Ghubari strained to see who else was here. “Who are you? Why me?” she asked, not expecting anything more than the cryptic answers she had been given.

A tall imposing man with ebony skin walked out of the shadows, no longer furtive, his head was bald and his eyes were piercing. “You’re real, aren’t you?” he said and then opened up with a big wide smile, “There hasn’t been anyone here but the prophets for as long as I can remember”.
