Warm brown eyes flicked over the shape of the ship her runabout was approaching. The Athena was certainly a marvel to behold, the passenger couldn’t deny that. It was somewhat overshadowed by all that she had recently experienced on her trip to arrive here, but she was eager to board and get settled. Starfleet was somewhat ingrained now in who she was, and it was a relief to be back to it.I’m a Starfleet Officer through and through… even though the organization has changed so much in the time since I left it… it’s still the same, somehow, the passenger thought to herself quietly. She glanced over at the pilot of the vessel. She smiled slightly as she considered how strange it would be to her parents that she had fallen in love with a man who was only fractionally human. And yet, it seemed to natural to her in this strange new world she had found herself in three years ago.
Her eyes traveled back to the Athena. The details were getting more distinct. She could hear Rovan saying something about docking, and a bunch of other navigator/pilot treknobabble she didn’t really understand. She might try to learn the lingo later, but right now she was a little too interested in the quickly shrinking distance between them and the vessel that would soon be her home.
Seeing this ship approaching made her think of the other vessels she had served on. Mainly two, really. The first real venture into the outer depths by humans. Going boldly where no-one had gone before, just as Zephram Cochrane had said all those years before. Her second home on the Genesis, getting to know the intricacies of the relationships that no doubt had been built up for years on that vessel.
She closed her eyes and visualized the two vessels. The people. Their faces and names flashed in her vision, as if she were looking directly at them. Two Captains. Two Science Officers. Two Chiefs of Science, two Chief Medical Officers… She smiled at the memory of the love that her first CE had held for the engine of the vessel he cared for. The strange experience of how much wider the world was now. They could go so fast compared to her first ship!
She opened her eyes again as she felt the slight vibration of the runabout docking with the Athena. Her hand grasped at the small bag she had brought with her… a few scant possessions. She had been trained when space travel was much more knowingly dangerous. When using transporters to move living beings was a thing of the imagination. When the threat of being blown up with all your stuff was a pretty big possibility. Therefore… she didn’t usually have much in the way of belongings.
A uniform from a long forgotten era. A folder of photographs. A t-shirt. A mug. A pair of warm socks. A music player with earbuds. All easily replaceable items, other than the ancient uniform that had somehow survived two centuries of use, but had escaped the explosion of the Genesis along with the moon-blossoms from Adrien’s arboretum. She smiled at the memory of the cantankerous old arboretum groundskeeper, then stepped off the runabout. A quick kiss on the cheek to fluster Rovan, and Allison Fleet was off to do her check-ins.

“Need directions?” a voice said, coming up behind her in the corridor on silent paws. A dark faced Caitian with a white furred scar over one eye fell in step with Allison as she made her way further into the bowels of the ship.

“Thanks, but I don’t need directions,” Allison replied, giving a quick look-over of the newcomer. Ah, a Caitian. Not the first Caitian she had met, although she somehow felt as though this one would be rather different than the one she had known on the Genesis, if his demeanor was anything to count on. “I got a good glance at the schematics of the Athena and with the way my brain works, that was all I needed. I’m Allison, by the way,” she said, keeping the officer in her peripheral view while she walked towards the nearest turbolift. She examined his uniform, trying to get a bead on his department by visuals.
Stark might notice a few things about Allison. No matter where he glanced on her face or hands, there wasn’t a single scar visible. It wasn’t available in her public records, but if his access level was deep enough he would know there were some strange things going on with this young scientist he walked with. Another thing, something his nose would notice, was the scent of a certain Ktarian pilot on her. The smell clung to her clothes and hair. If he had done his research, he would know exactly who this science officer was.

“Stark Nightstalker, Intelligence and generally curious purveyor of all things secret. ” he said by way of completing the introduction, “I’ve been looking forward to meeting you Allison. I do love a good mystery”. He smiled and for once didn’t show his teeth, a self restraint he only showed for those he felt protective towards.

“Hah. Intelligence. Of course,” the science officer nodded slightly, chuckling. She walked along the corridor, quietly considering. “Well, it’s nice to meet you, Stark Nightstalker. I’m sure you’ve got lots of questions just like every other person who has heard that I was born over two hundred and fifty years ago…” She stopped and met his eyes, a slight smile on her face. “But I’m afraid you’re going to have to wait in line. My records are open to you. All records, even those once classified, of my life before the disappearance, are as public as they can be. Most of what Starfleet knows about my return is in my records. My official account of my time on the planetoid, my reflections on the matter, and so many other communiques… They’re all available for you to access without bothering me. So, if you have a question that’s not answered in those documents, and it’s not a query into my feelings,” she grimaced slightly, “Go ahead.”
