A restless young Lieutenant left his quarters to do inventory of all the equipments in the Bay. Doing a task like this, gives Ben purpose in his mind. He would stay late to help with reports or run diagnostics on all shuttlecrafts and fighters to ensure they’re at their fullest capabilities. Ben walking in with a sense of urgency and hoping he was alone since it’s 0230.

Lt. Park,
Security officer

“Oi! Lieutenant! What are you doing down here this time of night?”

From around the corner came a crew member pushing a bucket. As Park watched he pulled out a mop and started pushing it back and forth across the deck. A “Caution: Wet Floor” sign was just off to the side.

Rado might have walked in, but his mind was somewhere else. He still was overwhelmed by the news that he would eventually become a father. Could he and T’Han be good parents to the kid? Will the kid live with them on the Athena, with his sister on Bajor, or with their Vulcan grandparents?

Rado was so deep into his thoughts that he ignored the sign and subsequently slipped.

“Shoot! Shoot! Shoot!” the crewman yelled as he came running across the floor. As he dropped the mop it hit the edge of the bucket knocking the water all over the deck. He came sliding to a stop next to Rado.

“Can’t you officers read the signs,” he said as he offered a hand to the fallen Lieutenant.

“Rado let me look at that injury.” Ben pulled out a medical tricorder from a medical case that was attached on the wall from his location.

Security

“It was just a slip, Lieutenant.” Rado protested, taking the crewman’s hand and standing up. “Prophets know I’ve, uh, been through worse. I’m Bajoran after all.” Rado tried to laugh but ultimately couldn’t fully commit to it. It still hurt.

He then turned to the crewman who helped him up. “Sorry, Ensign Zh’shiaqath. My mind was in the Fire Caves.”

“Just watch where you are stepping Lieutenant. Can’t have you officers getting hurt or we won’t know what to do with our free time,” he said with a laugh.

Ben with his eyebrow raised “crewman this is not a laughing matter. You should know better. Watch how your talking to Officers aboard this vessel. I appreciate the warning but laughing at an officer is highly inappropriate.”
