She was late, after her meeting with Dr Ren and the subsequent tour of Sickbay she had found herself so caught up in the space, and the general feeling of being in Sickbay again she had nearly forgotten that she still had one more appointment left. Her final and most important check in. The one where she got to meet those whose Command she was going to be working under.

Ditching her original plan to leave Enj in her new quarters to settle in there, she instead left him in Sickbay, thanking her lucky stars that the officers there seemed more than happy to watch him while she was gone. That alone save her a detour and bought her some extra time, hopefully meaning she would only be a few minutes late. As she stepped off the Turbolift she slowed from the power walk she had been doing and slipped into her natural stride taking the chance to straighten herself up as much as she could. Her hair, which had begun to start falling out from the bun she had it in, was unfortunately a lost cause. She just had to hope she didn’t look too much like she’d stuck her hand into a electrical conduit.

Stepping up to the door of the ready room she paused, her heart rate felt like it was back within normal parameters and she wasn’t puffing although she was sure that her face was a faint shade of pink still. Feeling like there was nothing more she could really do. She reached out and pressed the chime to alert her presence.

Orvos had been streaming over reports as the shift neared it’s end. Many of them didn’t require his eyes to gloss over it, but he felt it good to do every now and then when time allowed. He leaned back for a moment, taking his eyes off of the screen and sighed. It had been relatively uneventful, and most of his own work had been caught up already. That was the case, until the chime rang to the ready room. He sensed an unfamiliar presence on the other side of the door, so he straightened his uniform and sat up right in his chair.

“Come in,” came his reply.

The doors slid open and the young woman stepped over the threshold, stopping just inside as the doors slid shut behind her and stood at attention. Keeping her back straight the petite woman focused her eyes on the Captain. “Sir, Lieutenant Elaine Janvier reporting for duty,” she said.

“At ease, lieutenant Janvier. Actually feel free to take a seat,” gestured Orvos to one of the two chairs before his desk. He gave a quick look over his display for Janvier’s files. “New chief medical officer, eh? How was your trip here?” he inquired more cordially.

“Thank you, Captain,” Elaine walked over and selected the chair on the left, letting herself relax a little bit into the seat but not so much that she looked too casual. Just comfortable enough not to get a stiff back.

Elaines files would reveal she while she had been an average student during her childhood and teenage years, likely due to a lack of dedication, as her Star Fleet grades put her at the top of her classes and that she’d continued to excel getting promoted quickly and becoming a Chief Medical Officer at quite a young age compared to most. Her previous Captains had all noted she was diligent and dedicated to her role and was well liked by the staff she had worked with. Although previous Counselors had noted she could be too dedicated. For the last few years, it was noted she had taken an extended leave of absence to go back to Earth due to family reasons.

“I’m glad to be able to stretch my legs out properly again. It was a long trip and it definitely made me appreciate how far out in space we are.” She laughed softly “I’ll be glad to be getting back into Sickbay again.”
