Good evening crew!

Things are changing on the Athena. I’d like to give you all updates on what’s going on and what to think about moving forward.

We all know that Linds has decided to take leave from the club. For the Athena, that’s left the CNS, CIO, and GM positions open. With her having nicely tied off the end of this last sim, we can now look forward to a fresh start on things. The last sim, as some may recall, took up multiple years. And it was touched by two different GMs. Moving forward, we’re looking to avoid that.

For our first big announcement, I’d like to welcome aboard Steve Johnson and Ryan Williams! Steve will be running his GMT mission here with Ryan as his GMM. They’re in the works of solidifying the sim and will likely be up for beginning in the coming week. If there’s any delay, we’ll let you all know. Welcome aboard you two! Looking forward to what you have in store!

For our second announcement, our Chief Intelligence Officer position was made open as well. Terry has volunteered to fill that role for us. We’re very excited to see what he brings to the role and future sims! Thanks for stepping in there Terry! Intel is one of the key swing departments the Athena tends to run wild with, so having Terry there will ensure solid continuity.

Thirdly, given the length of the last sim and how many people both entered and left the same sim, I was hesitant to even consider promotions. Very few people are left who stuck it through. However, there will be a promotion here on the ship. Stay tuned for that IC post!

Fourth, many may not have known this, but the Athena won TWO awards at this year’s STF Awards. We received the awards for Best Ship of 2026 and Love Boat for 2026! Keep up the great work folks! I really look forward to seeing more in the coming months. :D

Feel free to run side sims of your choosing. If anyone is looking for something to post to, please let myself or Sam know. My hope is to at some point either this month or in August, to run another “live post-athon”. I really enjoyed it and I think we had some decent interaction the last time we did it. Be on the look out for that!

Things I want us all to remember moving forward:

1. Anything titled “Main Sim” is important to respond to. We don’t want to leave others hanging and our participation in the main sim is vital to the ship.

2. AWOLs will be enforced more during this next sim. I’m pretty lax and understanding. We all are volunteering our fun time to participate in this environment. And while I realize that real life most certainly must come first, its still important to remember that we are participating in community oriented things here. RP relies on each other. Let’s be present a bit more if we can.

3. If you need to go on LOA or things are just not working out at any particular moment, PLEASE let us know. Sam and I have generally open DMs to the crew for whatever reasons on discord. Let us know what’s going on. If you don’t want everyone knowing details, we most certainly can keep that to ourselves. It makes it difficult to serve you all as the command staff if we don’t know what’s going on.

4. Have fun! I know, you all already knew these things, but it helps to re-emphasize them. haha.
