Callahan moved away from the beam down spot as well. He pulled out his tricorder and began scanning in the opposite direction as Sinara. “It’s showtime, Sin. Let’s draw a little attention to ourselves.”

She smirked.

He pointed to the direction she was headed and raised his voice. “LT.!!! I THOUGHT I TOLD YOU TO GO THAT WAY!!! GEEZ!!! YOU NEVER LISTEN!!! ONE OF THESE DAYS . . . I TELL YA!!!”

“Oh shut it Callahan, you wouldn’t know sense if it hit you in the head!”

He gave her a quick wink and a nod and continued yelling “DUCANTE!!! IT’S CALLAHAN!!! CAN YOU HEAR ME?!?!? YOU DOWN HERE SOMEWHERE??”

“Sure! Because yelling is going to help matters oh so much!” Sinara said with a hint of distaste. Sinara moved deftly through the rubble with nary a sound of her feet. Despite the commotion they were creating, she was still aware that they had to be careful.

As they moved away from the epicentre, the interference began to dissipate. She wiggled the tricorder and nodded to Callahan. They had something. She pointed two fingers in a direction ahead of them. “I told you Callahan that I knew what I was doing! See? Two o’clock! Pretty sure that’s him!

~Mischief Maker

Harrison headed in her direction. Sneering mocking her reply, he said, “I told you I knew what I was doing, Callahan.”

He smiled and added, “I guess there’s a first time for everything. It’s about time. I’m getting pretty tired of you riding my coattail.”

He lead the way toward the direction she indicated, after taking a glance behind them to see if they had gathered any observers.

Sure enough, there was someone up at main level, peering down the hole. Also, there were three other biosignatures nearby that were not Calloway and Dawson (who were masking their biosigns).

“We have company,” Sinara said more softly, treading nimbly towards Ducante’s biosignature.

~Mischief Maker

Harrison slowly drew his phaser and made sure it was set to stun.. He looked up a the figure peering down. He waved and yelled back up to the observer. “Nothing to see here. We’re okay! You can carry out your business. We’re just looking for our missing crew member. The one that fell down this hole.”

He added quietly to Sinara, “How many? And Where?”

The face glared for a moment but then disappeared.

“Three. Adjacent corridor,” Sinara said, continuing on her path. She seemed unconcerned with the presences, but Callahan’s experience allowed him to see that her body language had just become a tony bit more alert, though it was incredibly subtle.

~Mischief Maker

“Remember, we’re a distraction for Calloway and Dawson. Let’s make it good.”

Harrison lowered his phaser and stepped toward the corridor, speaking loudly. He turned and shone his light in the direction Sinara had indicated.

“Look, Lt. I told you that was NOT Ducante’s bio-signature!! Geez Louise, they’re not even human!!! Did you even pass tricorders 101?”

“Get off my ass,” Sinara growled audibly.

He looked back at three figures in the corridor. “Hey, you guys!!!! Have you seen one of our missing crew members?”

“He’s human,” Callahan continued while shooting a glare back to Sinara. “About my height, my weight, brown hair, wearing a Starfleet uniform?”

The three (two men and a woman) glared at Callahan, and it was clear one was brandishing a weapon. The other two had engineering tools in their hands. “Nope,” said the one man holding the weapon.

“Well then, we won’t get in your way,” Sinara said. “We’ll just keep looking. I’m sure you don’t have any issues with that. Once we find him, we’ll be out of your way.”

“He can’t be far if he’s even here,” the woman said, eyeing them both suspiciously.

~Mischief Maker

“You say he can’t be far? Did you happen to see him fall when the floor collapsed? We’re pretty sure he’s around here somewhere.”

The woman shook her head. “We weren’t here at the time. We’ve just been called down here.”

Harrison kept his distance, for both his and Sinara’s safety as well as allowing him to continue to be loud. The hope was that Ducante might hear them, while also being the distraction Calloway and Dawson needed.

“Say, you look like engineering type people. Do you have a schematic of this place? That would definitely hrlp in our search. The quicker we find him, the quicker we can get out of your hair.”

OOC: Are Faye and Dawson able to hear any of this? Callahan is doing his best to sound loud.

The three exchanged a glance and one of the men (whose species was hard to peg) scoffed. “Seriously? You’ll have to talk to Kezrick. It’s not our call.”

“Forget them,” Sinara said with feigned annoyance. “We’ll do this our way.”

“Just stay out of our way. We have repairs to make,” the other man said.

Sinara just shook her head and walked off, moving around the trio, but she shifted her direction to head down a different corridor. She waited till she was out of earshot and wiggled her tricorder and pointed down a litle offshoot back into an area that had been damaged.

~Mischief Maker

Callahan held his posture a moment longer, watching the trio just long enough to sell the irritation before turning sharply to follow Sinara.

“Yeah, well, next time label your decks better,” he muttered just loud enough to carry, throwing one last exasperated gesture over his shoulder.

Only once they’d rounded the corner and the voices behind them faded did his demeanor snap cleanly back into focus.

His voice dropped, precise and controlled.

“Nice read,” he said under his breath, glancing at the tricorder. “If Ducante’s down there, structural instability is going to be our biggest problem—not whoever’s holding a wrench back there.”

He stepped closer to the damaged offshoot, angling his light into the debris.

“Alright,” Callahan continued, quieter again, all business now. “We go in careful. Last thing we need is bringing the rest of the deck down on him.”

A brief pause, then a dry edge slipped back into his tone.

“And for the record,” he added, glancing sideways at Sinara, “I absolutely passed tricorders 101.”

Sinara smirked.

He gestured forward.

“Lead the way.”

Sinara moved deftly more sure of their direction now. While she had been prepared for a firefight, it was the last thing they wanted right now. Sure, it was a distraction, but in these roughshod corridors, it was more likely to get someone inured of killed. That was counter to their rescue mission. And Calloway would be pissed if she found out they let it come to that. No one wanted to engage that woman’s wrath. It was unwise.

Lt. Ducante and the Orion pushed on further after Ducante located and started carrying his phaser. He heard what sounded like voices. He wasn’t sure if he was hallucinating, he thought he heard Lt. Cmdr. Callahan. It was too distant, feint and hard to tell.
Lt. Ducante, Chief of Security

The Orion swayed a little on his feet but kept taking steps. It seemed better than dying on this hunk of metal.

Meanwhile, Ducante would feel some increasing pain in the left side of abdomen.

Sinara gazed at the tricorder and pointed ahead of them. There was a corner and about twenty metres between them. “There. Human lifesign. And an Orion. Human matches Ducante.” She projected her voice. “Lieutenant Ducante! Call if you can hear us!” Conveniently, the yelling still played into their shtick too.

~Mischief Maker

Harrison increased his pace in the direction Sinara had indicated. They turned the corner and shone their lights down the corridor.

When they had gone far enough, the lights revealed Ducante and the Orion.

“Ducante!! It’s Callahan and Sinara!!” he called out, rushing forward

“Are you hurt?”

The large Orion struggled to walk forward and staggered towards the away team. He fell to one knee, pulling Ducante down with him.
