Faye would discover a lot of barriers to information on Silas Morgan. But eventually she would discover that he was there to discover if indeed the Dawn Treader was smuggling stolen Breen weaponry. There was no record of him sending a distress call of his own to Intelligence. But there was also no sign his investigation was compromised. Intelligence never found any sign of him, but part of the rationale of sending the Athena, was that Faye would be able to help exfiltrate him if he was captured.

Liam found it to be a relatively ordinary asteroid belt, but there were stray pieces of scrap, possibly connected to the attacks on the ships in question.

-GM

Faye sat there and stared at the screen. After a moment she realized she hadn’t taken a breath and inhaled sharply. Just in time too, since she was starting to feel that all-too familiar tingly in her fingers and toes. She closed her eyes and focused on her breathing, willing herself to stay present in this space and moment.

~Faye Calloway, CIO

“It seems like an ordinary asteroid belt aside from stray pieces of scrap, possibly connected to the ships in questions.” Liam relayed.

-CSO, Liam J. Madison, Sci.

Orvos was picking up the feelings on the bridge, particularly from Faye. He mentally noted the strange shift, recalling what they had spoken of earlier pertaining to her own needs. He stood up from his seat and moved about the bridge slowly, inspecting various stations, wiping the stray particle of dust from somewhere.

He soon came upon Liam working at his station. “Mr. Madison, why don’t we investigate some of the stray scrap. The more information we get, the better. We need to determine who our culprit is for certain.”

He then came upon his Chief Intelligence Officer at her station. She hadn’t outright said anything about her findings, not had she mentioned her own mental issues popping up. He spoke in a subtle, yet low tone. “Find anything helpful yet?” he asked her as he glanced at her screen.

-Captain Orvos Legen, CO

At a glance it was clear Faye had dug into classified Intelligence files that she had access to.

His voice cut through the buzzing and at first the only sign she had heard him was her tightening her right hand into a fist, digging her nails into her palm. As strange as it might seem for some, it helped. It created pain, and pain was a tangible sensation that connected her to her body. “Helpful…” she said. “Not the word I’d use. May we talk in private?” Faye said.

~Faye Calloway, CIO

Upon feeling Orvos come to rest behind him, Liam’s symbiote twitched. It curled against his spine as he fought not twist about in his chair. Instead, his eyes shifted sideways to acknowledge the captain. “Of course.”

A simple reply for a simple request. His hands flickered across the console, focusing in on the stray scraps of metal. He compared it to the missing ships and to see if they were man made vs naturally occurring.

-CSO, Liam J. Madison, Sci.

The captain seemed content with Liam’s reply for now and that the man was busy at work. After he had moved to his CIO and heard what she shared with him, he nodded. “Ready Room,” he said low to her before turning back to his CSO.

“Mr. Madison, you have the bridge,” he said aloud for the bridge crew to hear as he made his way to the ready room.

-Captain Orvos Legen, CO

OOC: We can split from here until we Faye and Orvos return. :)
-Tony

“Yes, sir.” Liam responded as he monitored for his console for anything unusual. He doubted anything too drastic might happen while the two discussed things.

OOC: :P I’ll just have Liam sit and babysit. -Janice.

-CSO, Liam J. Madison, Sci.

After some time Orvos and Faye had exited the Ready Room. Orvos moved immediately to his captain’s chair and called out to the Chief Science Officer. “Commander Madison, you’re currently acting first officer for the time being. Have we discovered anything else? Any leads on where we might look for clues pertaining to the ship disappearances?” Orvos too pondered how they might be of help.

-Captain Orvos Legen, CO

Faye’s appearance was brief as she crossed the bridge and exited, heading for her work area.

~Faye Calloway, CIO

Lt Ducante sat at the security station on the bridge watching sensor scans to see how the ships disappeared. He thought maybe if he could pinpoint something like they disappear in the same coordinates, or if there was a time variance at all, he had just hoped the sensors picked up something useful.
Lt. Ducante, Chief of Security

“Let’s make sure we are maintain alert. I don’t want to raise shields in case we need to beam the away team out quickly. Are we picking up any strange signatures in the vicinity? Cloaked ships? Anything?” inquired the captain of his bridge crew.

-Captain Orvos Legen, CO

“We still have sensors checking the area, but nothing has been detected as of yet, Sir.” Lt. Ducante stated from the tactical station. “I’ll let you know if the sensors do pick anything up.” He continued.
Lt. Ducante, Chief of Security

OOC: small bump to keep this on the page.

-Janice. B.

There was no indication of ships currently though there were two trails, one was an impulse engine trail leading towards the asteroid and a warp trail leading away. They were both faint, almost invisible and likely a relatively old.

-GM

The bridge crew detected a series of explosions where the away team was located.

-GM

The ops Ensign jumped up at the sudden alert. “Sir! Detecting Explosions near the away team!”

In the blink of an eye, Orvos stood up, heart pounding in his chest. His immediate thought was of Janna, though getting the entire team out of there was utmost priority. =/\=Transporter room, beam the away team back now!=/\=

He then quickly turned to science, a finger pointed at Madison. “Find out what’s happening! What triggered the explosions? Anything!”

-Captain Orvos Legen,CO

A reply came from the transporter room. =/\=The away team is back. Most of them. But I lost Lt. Ducante’s pattern. I’m sorry sir.=/\=

Madison would see indications that the cobbled together structure of the station had failed along a crucial line and the area had collapsed.

-GM

=/\=Have any personnel injured report to sickbay. Any able members should report to the bridge immediately.=/\= ordered the captain.

He then tapped his combadge again. =/\=Legen to Calloway, the away team has returned, minus Ducante. We’re attempting to figure things out. I don’t know how this effects your work, but it was important enough for me to let you know.=/\=

Liam’s fingers tapped furiously upon the console as his eyes read the data pouring in. “Seems a cobbled together structure of the station had failed along a crucial line. The area collapse.”

He attempt to see if he could filter out the interference from the explosions in order to help Lt. Ducante’s signal stick out. Silently, he prayed the man hadn’t been caught up in them.

-CSO, Liam J. Madison, Sci.

His new security chief was missing, possibly dead. Orvos couldn’t believe that it was a simple accident. Too much pointed to sabotage. While Liam worked his console, trying to do what he could to figure things out, Orvos spoke to the ops officer. “Get the station on comms, now!” Orvos was mad.

The ops officer gave him quick “aye, sir” before attempting to hail the station.

-Captain Orvos Legen, CO

The man they’d seen not long earlier appeared onscreen, looking disheveled. “Oh good, massive explosion in a residential area and I have to deal with you.” He spat pure venom.

-GM

Orvos wasn’t taking it. The man’s hatred was on pure display. Lives were at risk and this man wanted to be mad with starfleet? “Yes, you will deal with me. I have personnel still in the chaos. I’m going to be blunt now if you don’t mind. I find it incredibly ironic that this happened just as we arrived and meant to search for a missing shuttle in the very spot that this occurred. Do you have any intel on this? Unhappy residents perhaps? We can help if you would simply let us do so. But keeping us in the dark on this isn’t going to work. What’s going on?”

-Captain Orvos Legen, CO

Faye stepped onto the bridge, but moved immediately to the side to avoid being seen. She hadn’t been on the surface and so they wouldn’t recognize her if they were spotted. She didn’t want to ruin that advantage now. While time was of the essence, this conversation might prove to be useful, so she listened in from the side where Orvos could see her.

~Faye Calloway, CIO

Kingston stepped onto the bridge seeming as poised as she could. She had spent the turbolift ride doing her best to gather up all the memories and the image of Serena and tuck it neatly away where it wouldn’t harm her right now. It was something that could be dealt with later.

It was unfortunate that Orvos was in conversation, but her news could not wait and she had bene seen on the surface, so she didn’t care if they saw her now. She moved right over to the captain, her entire aura seeming off. On the surface, the bridge crew would think Janna was just focused over this serious situation, but Orvos would know something was definitely amiss given she had compartmentalized her emotions so much as to seem detached.

Her grass green eyes gazed at the person on the screen and she simply turned to the captain and leaned in, speaking quietly. “Commander Stone was caught in the blast. Medical is working hard.” She didn’t state the obvious, that it was life threatening. Dire, even. Fixable, most likely. But one never knew with these things. Some things in life are never certain.

~Janna Kingston, CNS

Felt not only observed Janna, she smelt her. There was a tangible smell of smoke and incendiary devices. It rankled her nose and made her frown for about two seconds before her brain took in the psychologist’s words and the knowledge they alrady had and sent her mind spinning.

Her first thought was a deep worry for Serena, her friend, her mentor. Second thought was panic for Dag and how she hoped he was okay. Thoughts three through fifteen: how this will impact her and Dawson’s expedition and how their ‘side quest’ just turned into a main quest and just got that much more dangerous. Thoughts 16-20 revolved around how to handle Dag with all of this and how much details she should give him before she went.

~Faye Calloway, CIO

“We’re investigating. It could be anything. Malcontents, components incorrectly installed… It could have been anything. It’s unfortunate the area affected was inhabited. By anyone.” Their leader thought this was quite over. All he could hope was that the Athena wouldn’t be staying much longer.

-GM

Orvos was processing a lot of information at once. He paused in thought as he glanced to Janna for a moment off screen. He could feel the intensity of the moment coming from her. He held on to it, tucked it away in his mind, and pivoted back to the main screen. “We have a missing crew member. We aren’t leaving until we recover him. If you need to investigate, then please do so. But if we can be of help, then let’s work together. If we come to the point though, that we can’t locate a missing officer, it will almost certainly bring more attention to this sector from Starfleet. And I get the sneaking suspicion you wouldn’t like that. So, let us know what you can as soon as possible. I’ll be letting starfleet know of the situation. Seems fair for now I think. Is that acceptable then?”

-Captain Orvos Legen, CO

Liam turned in his chair when the Counselor arrived. While he didn’t know her on the same level as the CO, he wondered if she should be here at all. Extreme occurrences tend to leave individuals unstable emotionally. A fact he had experienced himself with LB.

Sadly, now wasn’t the best time to inquire about it. He pulled out his tricorder and pushed up onto his feet. Stepping toward her, he made sure to keep in her line of sight before he spoke in a calming manner. He didn’t want to spook her. “Hold still, Ms. Kingston. I’m going to give you a quick scan.”

Naturally, he didn’t want to elaborate on why just yet. Running the device over her, he scanned for any particles left on her person. It might tell him more about the nature of the incident. Including the cause, any dangerous elements, and more.
