Kingston gazed thoughtfully into her drink for a moment before looking back at Karina. “It’s not. And I get that it’s annoying for someone to interfere, but if there’s anything I’ve learned about this crew Karina, is that people care, and they pay attention. You’d be surprised how much sometimes. And why? Because we’re each other’s family out here.” She wasn’t delving into anything of pressing matters. For now it was simply a conversation.

“Well then ‘family’ should have come to me with their concern.” The defensive walls were going up as she glanced around searching for a waitress. “I am sorry you wasted time coming down here, Ma… Janna.” She bit her lip remembering the first name offer. “But I am fine.” The words were a bit more clipped and concise than usual and seemed to be more of the patient trying to convince herself rather than the Councelor.

“I see,” she said simply before draining her small mug. Janna set it down and looked out at the holographic people going about their lives. “Are you? Because I’m not. Some moments are okay, but man, there are days when it feels impossible to wrap my brain around it all. And that’s not even including the sometimes quite rational fear about my physical issues.”
