Tapping her fingers on the desk, Janna sat back in her seat and pondered. She had just had an interesting conversation with a crew member who expressed concern about a fellow officer and she was debating how to go about addressing it. While not all ‘tips’ were things to be acted on, the last mission was definitely on the order of mildly traumatic for everyone involved. Some had great coping skills and were able to manage the subsequent mix of emotions, but others weren’t quite so adept or had specifically difficult experiences on the planet that they might not even fully realize they were struggling with.

She checked the time. 1400 hours. “Computer, what is the location of Ensign Karina Niles?”

=^= Ensign Niles is on holdeck 2=^= The computer replied. A query would find the program was private. Security clearance would reveal a Klingon combat program was running.

“Right, of course,” Janna said with a sigh. She got up from her desk, finished off her glass of water and then left her office, proceeding to Deck 17, where the entrance to Holodeck 2 was.

Standing at the entrance, Janna was not going to just barge in, since that wouldn’t be very productive. Instead, she activated the comm within the holodeck. “Ensign Niles, it’s Lieutenant Kingston, with the counselling department. Mind if I join you?”

The response took a moment, then was winded and clipped. =^=Yeah… ummmm… Enter....=^= the voice called so the computer would allow the door to open.

What met Janna’s eyes was a site. Karina was fighting off a Klingon with a knife in her right hand. Her left hand balled up in a fist. She was in work out gear consisting of tight black leggings with a grey splash design down her right leg and a matching sports bra and loose fitting top. Her feet were clad in black leather boots tightly tied about her ankles. As the Councelor entered, the loose shirt was grabbed by the Klingon and used to draw the smaller woman closer. Karina cried out as she was yanked nearly off her feet. She pulled the knife up and placed the hilt on her stomach with the tip pointed towards her apponent. The swiftly jerked motion meant the space between the two combatants was closed swiftly. Then the chaos stopped and an almost gruesome smile spread across Karina’s lips as the Klingon realized the blade was buried in his sternum. “COMPUTER! Stop Simulation, reset.”

She grunted as her feet landed on the floor as the opponent disapeared and ‘released’ her. She took a knee a moment to catch her breath. Her hair was in a messy ponytail that tattled on how long she had been in there. And she was covered in a fine layer of sweat. Slowly she stood up and turned to face the woman who had entered. “Pleasure to meet you.” She said as she reached up to rub her face off with the hem of the now torn over shirt.

Janna tucked her chin length blond curls behind her ears and smiled at Niles. “Indeed. Nice to meet you outside of toxic bloodrain, right?” They had been helping the downed crew members with the alcoholic solution together but there hadn’t exactly been time for pleasantries.

“If you want to finish your workout, you’re more than welcome to. Please don’t let me stop you,” Janna said, gesturing to where the Klingon had stood.

Karina shook her head and reached down to tuck the knife into her boot. “No, I’m done. COMPUTER… save program and close.” The computer beeped and once more they stood in the typical empty holo suite with its simple gridded walls. “I doubt you are here to join me.” She nodded to the woman’s clothes and smiled. “So what can I do for you, Ma’am?” She closed the space between them, till she was a couple arms length away.
