Mariska nodded and sighed in understanding.

“I commend you for your desire to gain social understanding and indeed, a foothold perhaps. I suggest you invest in andorian climbing gear for that one. Sometimes it’s just not worth it. I think you’ll do fine though. People with intelligence backgrounds usually do.”

Faye snorted. “Ahh, Intelligence, my ever friend and foe. Honestly? I like puzzles and most of the time people are puzzles, but rather than fun ones, they can get really frustrating. I’m learning to accept that there are certain realms I’m going to enter that I will never entirely master and realize that I’m just as frustrating to some people as they are to me,” she said with a smirk.

She leaned forward. “So, let’s make a plan, shall we? As much as this ship will let us? I’ll make you lunch next week? If you can get away, of course. Just let me know what day.”

Marishka listened quietly. Faye’s energy was new and she liked it quite a bit. New energy was always good for a place or a situation. it helped new things rise to the surface. She nodded and gave a face when Faye talked about realms and the like, Marishka knew about that one all too well. Leaning forward she smiled a bit mischievously at Faye’s last comment.

“Oh yes, I do love a good plan. I find the simpler the better, unless a complicated one will do of course. I can get away next week or anytime I need to probably. You’ll have to message me though, I mean my schedule is always a work in progress. Isn’t yours?”

Faye chuckled. “Well, the main difference these days is that I set my own schedule, at least in part. The perk of being a department head, but yes, between bridge shifts, and senior staff meetings, I’m generally keeping everything else that needs to go into my schedule as flexible as possible. Saves the frustration later… mostly.”

“So., I’ll message you the morning of, sometime during the week once I have a better understanding of how things will flow. Yeah?”

Marishka could understand the style. It was pretty much the way she ran her life. Different of course, but similar.

“Yes, works for me. Speaking of flexible I’m afraid I only have so much flexibility with running the parthenon. I should probably get back within the next few minutes or so. Kitchen fires are a real thing even in this enlightened day and age.”

Faye nodded. “Of course. Go do what you need to do,” she said simply. In some ways it was a relief given she wasn’t always sure how to end these sorts of conversations.
