<snip>Dawson listened to her, his El Aurian tendencies edging into their meeting. He observed her, taking note of everything his senses could take in. The temperature of the room, the warmth of her body close to him, the feel of the soles of her feet as his fingers worked the muscles. He took in the sight of her and noted the subtle changes. The way her hair had changed over time. Her demeanor in how comfortable she had gotten with him.
He kept their conversation going. “And what exactly draws you to the Athena specifically?” he asked, his hand now working past her ankle and up her calf, slowly massaging the muscles and memorizing the contours of her skin and curves against the palm of his hand.
-Dawson
Marishka inhaled the scent of Dawson and the way it made the room smell slightly different. It was a very good thing. Her skin tingled under the way his fingers felt. She didn’t want to tell him that story right now. She also didn’t want to lie to him either.
“Several things. I needed a new home ended up being the reason I stayed though. I know that I could probably tell you several stories about all of it. Do I really have to? I’m enjoying our time together so much.”
- Marishka
Dawson brought his eyes to hers as his hands continued their sensorial attention on her legs. “You don’t have to do anything. Your choices are all your own. I’ll make no demands of you. Unless you want me to of course.” he added the last sentence with a chuckle. “Another question. What do you enjoy so much about this?” he asked curiously.
-Dawson
Marishka lingered in that moment for several moments in fact. She was enjoying every second of them but, was considering her answer.
“When you say the word this, it becomes a word with so many layers because it is said between the two of us here in this room. I like this moment with you just as it is. It is a moment between two people that could mean absolutely nothing except two people enjoying each other’s company and what it could evolve into. This, this moment could be two people undercover trying to suss each other out if you will. I do so love your new interrogation technique. I’ve used variations of it before myself to such great effect, you continue.”
- Marishka
Dawson shook his head with a laugh. “You know, you say the word ‘continue’, and yet I can’t help but sense the layers of that word as well. Do you mean continue with the questioning? Or continue like this?” At the end of statement, one hand gripped the muscle in her thigh as his hand worked its way further upwards. He didn’t rush it, but he certainly made a point.
-Dawson
Marishka merely nodded and readjusted her position to something a bit more comfortable.
“Yes.”
- Marishka
A knowing grin spread across his features as he gave a gentle laugh, his hands never ceasing. “As you wish. You know I’ll never stop with the questions. I know, curiosity killed the cat. But this cat seems to have lived for a lot longer than most would expect. So I’ll take my chances with you. I could ask you what your favorite drink is, favorite food, color, music, or even intimate positions. And while I’d love the answer to some of those, they feel very…surface level. I want to know you, Marishka. Inside and out. How comfortable are you with that?”
-Dawson
“Well, that depends on the question. I think it’s the same with most beings especially female ones.” Marishka replied.
- Marishka
Dawson noted that the question hadn’t necessarily been answered, but he let it go. “Who’s after you?” he asked simply, his hands still making the same motions in the same places. “Why did Orvos decide it was worth it to enter into a fake marriage with you?”
-Dawson
Marishka sighed and shifted positions slightly. All of this lovely attention had her in a very good mood but, this was a bit serious. Sighing, she met Dawson’s gaze and decided to answer his question in her own way.
“When that fateful evening began, there were 30 people in the Dark Star Bar. That’s how many people’s lives he saved that night by stepping into the situation that unfortunately unfolded because, if he hadn’t, I would have fought my way out if I couldn’t have finessed my way out of there quietly. The bartender and I are in fairly good standings so he would have taken all that damage as a loss. We would have squared up later of course. As for who’s after me? I don’t really know because I’ve never met him. The person who came to collect me was an old family friend of a relative or some crazy shit. I couldn’t keep track of it if I tried.”
