Orvos happened to glance at the man before he just as quickly disappeared. It was reminder that he still had issues to discuss with others.

Quickly turning back to Janna he smiled. “I can understand that certainly. You know, you and I just can’t seem to steer clear of pushing along now. Honestly, I do hope this stands the test of time. But, as they say, only time will tell?” He gave a cheeky grin before taking another stab at his food.

Eyes alight, she grinned. “Well, it’ll be an adventure, either way.”

Then a thought occurred to him. “What do you consider to be…’fun’? Hmmm?” He asked with great curiosity. They had worked and had some time together clearly. But he somehow had glossed passed hobbies.

She gave this some thought as she chewed on a bite of pasta. “It’s changed a bit over the years, especially after the accident. But I enjoy swimming, walks in lovely places, and reading. Actually, I love all the arts, though I’d not say I’m that great of a dancer. But I realized awhile ago that I really didn’t have any hobbies per say so I’ve taken up ceramics. I especaily like working on a pottery wheel, but I’ve been experimenting with styles and techniques.”

~Janna Kingston, CNS

Orvos raised an eyebrow, clearly surprised at her response somehow. “And what drew you to ceramics?” he asked in curious wonder.

-Captain Orvos Legen, CO

Janna shrugged with a soft smile on her face. “It sort of just happened, I guess. You know all those little vases I collect and display in my quarters? Well, I realized after a conversation with a friend that I really needed a proper hobby. I joke that people watching is my hobby, but it can end up being a bit too much like work some days. And I really appreciate the skills artisans use to create things and wondered what it took to make a vase. Using glass was sort of out because of the danger, but pottery? Much safer. So I’ve bene learning. I wouldn’t say I’m good, but I can make some simple shapes with some consistency. And the glazing part is pretty fun too.”

Orvos nodded understanding. “Everyone needs something to enjoy outside of what they do for work. For a while, a lot of what I did here on the ship would translate into my interests. Love tinkering with things. Building something new. There’s a lot that can be made, even if just for fun.”

“I agree wholeheartedly,” Janna said.

He took a bit of food and then gave her a playful smirk. “I’d even give ceramics a go. In all my years, I can’t honestly say I’ve given it a chance. You’re usually modest about your actual skills. I bet I could learn quite a bit from you, m’dear.”

-Captain Orvos Legen, CO

She smirked as she chewed on a piece of chicken. “I’ve always been small and unassuming. I use it to my advantage,” Janna said, her green eyes gleaming. But his assertion about trying ceramics was giving her an idea for their next date.

Janna had eaten most of her pasta but was feeling like she’d had enough. She pushed the plate to the side and braced her elbows on the table, lacing her fingers together and resting her chin atop. “So, we’re going to try to see each other for even a brief meal or visit every day, where possible, and I’m planning the next date. I know we both said we’re not wanting to hide our relationship, but what boundaries do you need as CO. You know I would never do anything to impact how the crew sees you, right?”

~Janna Kingston, CNS

Orvos still had some food left on his plate as Janna had finished. He was a naturally slower eater. After all, he seemed to have all the time in the universe, right? He chewed as he gave her questions some thought. “Of course I trust you Janna. I know you’re looking out for my interests. You know, you and I both have jobs that ultimately will intersect quite a bit. There are obviously natural boundaries involving each of our respective positions. There will be things you can’t tell me about the crew. As there may be some things I can not share from Command. As far as how the crew sees me…I’ve never been one to worry too much about what others think. My goal was always to keep people at a distance, and sometimes being just a little off kilter helped.” He gave her wink.

Janna smirked.

“People are always people. My character ought to speak for itself. People will know that we care for each other.” He paused and teasingly added a bit lower so only she would hear, “Although, it may be wise to avoid tearing each other’s clothes off on the bridge.”

-Captain Orvos Legen, CO

“Does that mean your ready room is fair game?” she deadpanned, vibrant green eyes seeming innocent.

~Janna Kingston, CNS

Orvos’s slowly grinned, his eyes reflecting the humor of it as he gave a low chuckle. “Oh, my dear Janna, don’t tempt me.” He then added. “Why don’t we say It’s not strictly off limits there?” he said with an almost challenging grin. “Does that help clarify things a bit?”

-Captain Orvos Legen, CO

“I’ve made a mental note,” Janna said. “And this last part of our conversation does answer the question of whether it would be alright if I should happen to slip my hand in yours. After all, public displays of affection would be perfectly expected at this point in our relationship, especially if we’re less concerned with what people might think.” She couldn’t help but grin. She was happy and it was nice to just be so without having to justify it or explain it to anyone.

~Janna Kingston, CNS

Orvos smiled back and pushed his plate aside. He took her hand in his and kissed it gently. “I think I’m at a point where I’m much less concerned about what others think.” He let a thumb stroke her fingers. “Much like the ship, we will see where this takes us.” His grin never left his face as his eyes looked directly into hers, his mind open.

She squeezed his hand, beaming at him. “And to think this might never have happened if I hadn’t been mad at you after the Nexus stuff and decided to tell you so,” she said, chuckling. It was one step, then another, then another. They hadn’t rushed, despite how impulsive it had seemed at certain moments. Janna recalled Stark declaring ‘finally’ after entering her quarters and realizing he had caught them in an intimate moment. It wasn’t that Orvos and her hadn’t known they had feelings for each other, but that it had required him to be ready for her, and her to be ready to handle the bizarre situation they found themselves in after the Nexus.

~Janna Kingston, CNS

Orvos could sense the memories in the smile. “It would seem that trip changed things for us quite a bit. It also may not be the only trip we ever make there. As much as I would like to not be forced to do so, I still have to make the rare trip there on occasion. Though I doubt I’ll have to do it again any time soon.” He paused for expression as he could not recall if he had told her that.
