Orvos happened to glance at the man before he just as quickly disappeared. It was reminder that he still had issues to discuss with others.

Quickly turning back to Janna he smiled. “I can understand that certainly. You know, you and I just can’t seem to steer clear of pushing along now. Honestly, I do hope this stands the test of time. But, as they say, only time will tell?” He gave a cheeky grin before taking another stab at his food.

Eyes alight, she grinned. “Well, it’ll be an adventure, either way.”

Then a thought occurred to him. “What do you consider to be…’fun’? Hmmm?” He asked with great curiosity. They had worked and had some time together clearly. But he somehow had glossed passed hobbies.

She gave this some thought as she chewed on a bite of pasta. “It’s changed a bit over the years, especially after the accident. But I enjoy swimming, walks in lovely places, and reading. Actually, I love all the arts, though I’d not say I’m that great of a dancer. But I realized awhile ago that I really didn’t have any hobbies per say so I’ve taken up ceramics. I especaily like working on a pottery wheel, but I’ve been experimenting with styles and techniques.”

Orvos raised an eyebrow, clearly surprised at her response somehow. “And what drew you to ceramics?” he asked in curious wonder.

Janna shrugged with a soft smile on her face. “It sort of just happened, I guess. You know all those little vases I collect and display in my quarters? Well, I realized after a conversation with a friend that I really needed a proper hobby. I joke that people watching is my hobby, but it can end up being a bit too much like work some days. And I really appreciate the skills artisans use to create things and wondered what it took to make a vase. Using glass was sort of out because of the danger, but pottery? Much safer. So I’ve bene learning. I wouldn’t say I’m good, but I can make some simple shapes with some consistency. And the glazing part is pretty fun too.”

Orvos nodded understanding. “Everyone needs something to enjoy outside of what they do for work. For a while, a lot of what I did here on the ship would translate into my interests. Love tinkering with things. Building something new. There’s a lot that can be made, even if just for fun.”

“I agree wholeheartedly,” Janna said.

He took a bit of food and then gave her a playful smirk. “I’d even give ceramics a go. In all my years, I can’t honestly say I’ve given it a chance. You’re usually modest about your actual skills. I bet I could learn quite a bit from you, m’dear.”

She smirked as she chewed on a piece of chicken. “I’ve always been small and unassuming. I use it to my advantage,” Janna said, her green eyes gleaming. But his assertion about trying ceramics was giving her an idea for their next date.

Janna had eaten most of her pasta but was feeling like she’d had enough. She pushed the plate to the side and braced her elbows on the table, lacing her fingers together and resting her chin atop. “So, we’re going to try to see each other for even a brief meal or visit every day, where possible, and I’m planning the next date. I know we both said we’re not wanting to hide our relationship, but what boundaries do you need as CO. You know I would never do anything to impact how the crew sees you, right?”
