It was mid-morning coffee Rush at The Parthenon. Such things happened a few times a month, especially when a new shipment of coffee arrived. Helter skelter in the kitchen as new bags were opened, inhaled, and dreamed about by some of the people making new delicious drinks. For her part, Marishka was enjoying some Haitian Blue. She had heard about the interesting coffee bean from an old acquaintance passing by on a shore leave Marishka had been on a few months ago. It was an earth product that Marishka hadn’t known she would have been able to acquire quite as easily. Very rare, and quite delicious.

“Ann, get this on the menu and make sure you get Ted a fresh brewed cup when he shows up here in about a half hour. He’s our resident barista and he’s going to flip over this. I’ve got too much to do to deal with the rest of this. You guys have got this don’t let me down.”

As Marishka spoke she prepared a large mug of coffee and walked out into The Parthenon. She had a feeling it was going to be a very interesting day, the more caffeine the better right?

Time passed but then a text message came through:

We need to talk. My quarters. Between 1200 and 1300 when you’re free. Faye

Marishka looked down and saw the message. She had been wondering who would be reaching out today, sometimes one just knew it would be that kind of day. She looked down again and rearranged her schedule to accommodate Faye.

“Okay, change of plans, Ted get Carla on the schedule for 1200 to 1600.”, she said over her left shoulder. Ted had just come in with his first cup of coffee. Without waiting for a response, Marishka turned and headed back to her office. When the time was right she would slip out through one of her lesser known entrances and go meet Faye.
