Shortly after he got finished with his check in at sickbay he then went ahead and smiled but then went to serious mode. He then went ahead and took the turbolift from the deck he is currently on and go to the bridge. The doors swooshes open as he gets near. Once he steps in the doors swooshes closed and he says bridge. The lift then starts to go and he stands there awaiting for the door to open. The lift then stops moving a few minutes later and the doors swooshes open. He then noticed that the CO and the xo aren’t on the bridge. He wondered. He then went over to the ready room and rang the chime and stood there awaiting confirmation to enter.

The silvery chime shivered through the quiet interior of the ready room. While it was Captain Legan’s workspace much of the time, when she was ranking officer on duty, it was hers, since she had to be able to move to the bridge at a moment’s notice. Not that the Captain was ever far away. Stormy eyes surveyed the latest personnel and operations reports. Standard stuff. New personnel arriving. Securing the terminal she cleared her throat. “Enter.”

An update ticked across her screen. Mentally she filed it away and steeled herself for whatever was about to walk through the door.

On the other side was a somewhat tall redhead with her hair pulled back into a tight bun, with large blue-gray eyes, and the physique of a career security and tactical officer, the type that engaged in frequent vigorous exercise.

As Syvak entered, she noted the new face. It was a little hard to track a thousand faces aboard the Athena, but she knew most of the commissioned officers by sight and by name, especially those of lieutenant rank or above. The vulcan was a new face, and surmised who he was immediately. “Lieutenant Syvak,” she said by way of greeting.

“Hello, Commander. Sorry for the intrusion. Just thought I’d come in and do my check-in and get to my duty station as soon as possible.” He said looking at her with a straight face. “However, if you would like to do some training for me while I’m here please do tell me and I can do it with no hesitation.” He added.

The redhead got to her feet as soon as Syvak entered. Routine matters were one thing, but with a senior officer coming aboard, there was a least a little ceremony to stand on. “Welcome to the Athena, Lieutenant. I assume you’re up to speed on her specs and capabilities?”

“Yes Commander. I have. I am aware of the specs and capabilities.” He said with a slight smile.

“Good.” Reaching over, she picked up a padd and passed it to him. “We’re seeing some interesting intel and data coming from some old belligerents. Starfleet and the Federation have had some recent incursions with the Cardassians. The encounters have demonstrated some concerning shifts in technology and tactical approaches. Hybrid phase disruptors, cloaking tech, ambush and wolfpack tactics. They’ve developed their own fighters, and they’re getting bold.”

“Start brushing up. We need to be ready. Before a shooting war breaks out. The sims on that padd are a good start. It might even be a good idea to start running battle drills for senior staff and bridge officers. I’d be happy to jump on that with you.”
