Orvos had spent some time getting ready to meet with Janna in a more public setting. Orvos hadn’t gone on any official ‘date’ for a long time. Too long in fact. He was liable to be exceptionally awkward, but he hoped it would still go well. The Parthenon was notorious for attracting some extravagant folk, so given what he currently wore he felt he wouldn’t stand out too much. He was wearing dark slacks with a white button up shirt with his sleeves rolled up to his elbows. Atop the shirt was a dark green vest. It was different, but hopefully not to attention seeking. Then again, being the captain and showing up anywhere was already attention enough.
There was a table reserved for the pair and he made his way too it.
-Captain Orvos Legen, CO
“Is there anything I can get for you Captain?” came the voice from just over Orvos’ left shoulder.
- Khabal
Weaving through the room, Janna was strangely nervous, but at least she looked fabulous. A black slip dress to the knee skimmed her petite body and was overlaid by a black sheer layer with cap sleeves and covered in wildflower embroidery. She tucked errant blond curls behind an ear, her finger brushing the dark gold beaded headband that held them off her face.
As she approached in black heels, Janna tried to seem less uncertain, but now she was all too aware that this was, yes, a very public date and that they were being observed. She gave him a smile as she reached the table. “Hi,” she said, glancing between Orvos and Khabal.
~Janna Kingston, CNS
“Good evening Ms Janna. Can I get you anything?” Khabal asked with a slight bow.
“Oh, I don’t know yet,” she said. “But some water to stat for sure.”
Khabal was dressed in his usual medium dark blue outfit. Semi loose fitting allowing for comfort and freedom of movement.
- Khabal
Bump
Orvos was entirely distracted by the sight of Janna as she entered the Parthenon. Unfortunately for Khabal, that meant Orvos had not heard his question. He was much too focused on the gentle sway of Janna’s dress and how the embroidery seemed to flow like a gentle breeze through the Parthenon as she made her way to the table. When Khabal had once more stated his question to Janna instead, he was suddenly shaken from his awkwardness. “Ah, um. Mr. Khabal. Yes, we have reservations. I believe the dinner was already pre-arranged? Marishka had mentioned something about setting something up?” he said, now curious how the newcomer had been pulled into serving in the Parthenon.
As he listened to Khabal, he couldn’t help but lock eyes with Janna, unable to stifle his grin.

Ted entered from somewhere stage left as he was often known to do. He smiled and bowed slightly in deferrence to the Captain and Counselor. Stepping up to Khabal, he placed a hand lightly on Khabal’s elbow and leaned in close.
“The boss has set them at her personal table. All drink orders come to me, and this one is all yours.”
Ted whispered before fading away again. Now, to get on to the actual cooking of the meal.
- Ted
Janna took a seat and smiled at their hosts, before she turned that smile on Orvos and it deepened. “I think we have a out thirty seconds before it would be terribly rude to change our minds.”
~Janna Kingston, CNS
Khabal silently disappeared and moments later Janna’s water was on the table in front of her.

Bump
Orvos stifled a grin as he took a seat. His eyes looked into hers after sitting. “I won’t change my mind. I’m resolutely staying put…with you.” He slowly smiled, contentment roiling through his mind. He was genuinely happy. “So, let’s soak it up. Cat’s out of the bag, right? What should we eat?”
-Captain Orvos Legen, CO
Janna chewed non her lower lip. She stared at the glass a moment (she wasn’t sure she’d ever get used to him doing that), and then drew it towards her, taking a sip. Was it strange to be so nervous? It wasn’t like they hadn’t spent far more intimate time together, and she had been on the ship a long time at this point. But Janna was glad to be here with him. “Umm, I’m trying to thinking of what is easy to eat and doesn’t make a mess. Isn’t that some sort of rule for dates? So we don’t embarrass ourselves?”
~Janna Kingston, CNS
Orvos laughed. “Rules for dates? There are no rules. Rules are just guidelines really. And I think in this case, I’m not overly concerned about embarrassment. I could be wrong, but generally people on first dates don’t typically have the kind of intimate knowledge we already have of each other. We’ll just make up our own rules at this point. Eat what you want, not what’s polite.”
He glanced to their waiter for the evening. “I’ll have a Blackberry iced tea, thank you.”
-Captain Orvos Legen, CO
Khabal gave a polite bow and went to fulfill the order.
- Khabal
“I think I want pasta. Something creamy,” she said, imagining her Mom’s best dish. “My mom makes this amazing fettuccine alfredo with grilled chicken that is amazing. It has lots of lemon zest and cracked black pepper, so it’s not traditional, but it’s so good. That and salad and garlic bread?” Janna beamed. “It’s such a good meal.”
~Janna Kingston, CNS
Orvos grinned broadly, sensing her feelings of freedom to share as she pleased. She seemed at ease, which was a very welcome state of mind for him. “It sounds like a dinner fit for two! Let’s do it.” he replied, setting his menu down.
“So,” he started as they waited for Khabal’s return. “How did things go with Dr. Grey?” He asked with more curiosity than concern. There was also some mild humor behind it as well, given the possible ramifications of having to explain herself as to why she took the monitor off and left it with a large blip of missing data.
-Captain Orvos Legen, CO
Janna smirked. “He didn’t seem too fussed, all told. He figured there would be enough data. Besides we had time travel nonsense to deal with and that was bound to make for interesting results.” She leaned in. “Which, the time shenanigans didn’t mess up and were rather… interesting.”
She took a deep breath. “It seems that my brain is forming a new cortex and new neural connections. And I’m producing an El-Aurian neurotransmitter, Recepatamine.” She let those words sit there for a moment before continuing. “Ben thinks it would be prudent if we consulted a specialist, as he is not fully equipped in this area. I was… resistant, because of my medical history.” It was hard to push away that instant fear of being treated as nothing more than an oddity. “And that I should have training in the use of my abilities as they develop, for the safety of me and those around me. I can’t say I disagree, but it was a hard thing to process when everything else about these changes has bene so lovely,” Janna said, gazing deeply into his eyes, directing her happiness to him.
~Janna Kingston, CNS
Orvos gave her a genuine grin. He could feel those particular feelings roiling off of her. It had been a long time since he had felt that sensation from someone he felt he loved. The whole experience felt surreal to him. He considered her words carefully before replying. “Developing new neural connections? Are you trying to tell me you’re becoming El-Aurian now?” he teased. “Specialists are…difficult…to come by. We’re already rare enough. Dedicating someone to understand us at all is a rarity in itself, let alone be able to understand our mental capabilities. I wonder how much will actually change?”
His eyes remained on hers as he continued, a hand reaching across the table to caress hers. “Regardless of what happens, that won’t change how I feel for you,” he said quieter, bringing her in to the moment. “We’ll go through this together. You can practice some of these abilities with me perhaps? Whatever you’re most comfortable with.”
-Captain Orvos Legen, CO
Khabal appeared and set a small tray in front of Janna. It had chicken fettuccine Alfredo on a plate a pepper mill, a lemon and a fine grater, and a small cup of extra Alfredo sauce.
“Anything for you Captain?” Khabal asked.
