“This one could take us awhile,” she said. “I’ve also lost track of scoring but I’m not sure I really care, even though I am rather competitive.”

Janna stood slightly straddling the edge of the spinning circle. Her strategy was to just tap it hard enough to roll off to stable ground and then worry about getting it in the hole on the next shot. She waited, letting the circle spin a couple of times ad once she felt like she got the timing down, she tapped her putter against the ball. It wasn’t moving super fast and the circle’s momentum pulled it back a bit, but there was just enough forward motion that it cleared the line onto solid ground by about the distance of three golf balls. She nodded. “Works for me.”

“I’m not in any hurry to leave yet.” Liam commented as he shook his head. “To be honest, I prefer to be a gentleman and let the lady win.”

“It’s not fun winning if the other person isn’t trying. Where’s the skill then?” Janna said with a grin. She wasn’t trying to win either, she was just having a good time.

He watched her ball rolled and finally reached an optimal position. It was his turn. He stepped up to his ball and angled it, measuring the distance in his head. With a light tap, the ball rolled then bounced past the hole before coming to a stop.

“Umm, I might’ve hit it a bit too hard.” He frowned.

“Still just a tap away,” she said as she moved to line up her own shot. It was just a simple tap and so Janna didn’t waste too much time and simply tapped it in. She grinned and nodded, pulling the ball out and stepping to the side.

“How do you feel about our conversation today? Do you feel it was useful or productive?”

Liam paused before his turn and weighed his thoughts. “I feel lighter and better. So I said it went well. I won’t know if it was useful until I apply what we talked about.”

With those words, he smacked the ball and it rolled into the hole. He reached down into the hole and glanced her. “I think this can be the last hole for today and we can do the rest on the next session?”

“Sure,” she said lightly, twirling the ball in her fingers. Janna was happy with how the progress they had made and how receptive he had become to having the deeper conversations. There were a lot of positive steps taken and she didn’t want to push things too far in one go. “Same time next week?”
