“As we all are,” Koraia replied, sensing she had made the intended impact. She wasn’t trying to discourage Cara, but there are always limits to anything in life and while some can be pushed, others will push back and it’s rarely pleasant when then do. There was also a big difference between giving up and making a decision to stop. Intention could be very important.

“Any questions about the ship so far?” Ghubari asked.

Cara had a thousand questions of course but most would have be answered in the thick of things and trial and error The Captains kinds was appreciated though and she took a breath.
“Is there anything as a doctor I should know that’s not in the records that would help me as a doctor serve the crew better? I know in deep space you across many unexplained things,” Cara answered and hoped that Captain Koraia understood what she was asking.

Ghubari couldn’t help but snort. “Expect the unexpected and then when you encounter it, remember that it’s what we’re out here for in the first place.” She sighed slightly. “This ship, whether it’s the name or its commanding officer, has a rather interesting track record for getting into gritty situations. I can’t say it will be all the time, but you’ll be busy. And that’s not even considering the eleven hundred people on board who all need varying degrees of medical attention at some point.”

Cara nodded in understanding, glad to know what she was getting into. Sometimes people liked to sugar coat things and as a doctor Cara knew there were times when that was necessary. This was not one of those times. “I’ll do my best to keep up, and I want to help the crew succeed in their missions in any way I can. I really do believe in what we’re trying to do here and, I’m just happy to be a part of it,” she admitted giving the Captain a small smile.

Gesturing with her head and chin, the Captain pointed to the door. “Then you best get out there and do so, Ensign,” she said with a light smirk. “Go prove it, not just to others, but yourself.” It was all she asked of others and of herself on this ship. They were all in it together, so they succeeded and failed together as well.
