After the whole time travel-ship swapping adventure, Ben had asked Janna to come by so he could see if there were any further ill effects. Janna was grateful she didn’t have to reveal what had really been going on in front of Shock, but things had resolved enough that she could function again. Then there was the issue of her having not come back to get her cortical monitor results looked over.

Stepping into Sickbay, Kingston greeted the medical staff and simply let them know she had an appointment with Dr. Grey and slipped up onto a free biobed.

A few minutes later Benjamin arrived at the foot of Kingston’s bed in his usual uniform and long white coat combo “Afternoon Janna, how are you feeling today?” He asked.

Dr. Grey - CMO

She flashed him a grin. “Well, no longer feeling like I want to throw up because time is weird, so that’s been nice.” Janna reached up and disconnected the cortical monitor and offered it to him. “I did try to where it most of the time, but there will be gaps in the data when I took it off.” She figured it was best to be up front.

Ben shook his head and laughed “No worries, there should be enough information there to work with” he took the CM and placed it on the head of the Biobed, connecting the two devices and starting the data transfer “Besides it would be very typical if all that temporal nonsense messed up your readings, here’s hoping that won’t happen” He said in a light tone, he’d barely been involved in the last mission, there had been enough for him to do in Sickbay so he’d only read the after-action reports.

The data transferred easily and was rather a revelation. It was clear as he started to comb through it that Janna was experiencing above average neural readings. In fact, there rate of new neural connections had grown by 200%, centred in a small part of the part, and her beta wave readings were off the charts. She seemed to be able to sleep at regular intervals and soundly. There were definitely ‘events’ where her body seemed to be operating at a heightened state that was similar to what he had seen when he scanned Orvos and Janna when they were in contact. When these readings show up, her beta wave levels seem to lessen, as if proximity to Orvos made it mellow.

Benjamin smiled an amused smile at the result of those scans but didn’t say anything.

Furthermore, Janna was producing a new neurotransmitter in small quantities. Measurable quantities of receptamine, a neurotransmitter in El Aurians that controlled their psi abilities, were being produced… but Janna wasn’t El Aurian that anyone (or her medical records) knew of, and she had never had the cortical area that produced it.

“Well that’s interesting” He said as he finished reading over the results. He set the auto-scan function on the biobed to focus on a neurological scan as he removed his tricorder and used the wand as a focus “Looks like you’ve started producing your own neurotransmitters. Something you shouldn’t be able to” He said in a calm tone as if this was nothing to be alarmed about.

Janna frowned. “What do you mean? What neurotransmitters are we talking about other than the ones we expect to find?”

The focused scan showed that the highest production of the receptamine was in a small area of her brain where the new neural connections were focused. It was if they were watching Kingston develop a whole new cortex of her brain in real time.
