With Ros having been transferred so quickly after their last mission, Orvos was in need of filling that position once more. It was not a decision he took lightly. It was after all, the very spot he had arrived on the Athena in. Given that he needed it filled quickly however, he already had a person in mind.

He kicked his feet up on the table as he awaited for the arrival of the candidate in question. He had already sent out the communique to him. Now, he simply waited.

Thr chime sounded outside the door. On the other side, the Chief Operations Officer stood outside and waited. The Captain had sent him a message saying he needed to talk to him about a pressing matter, but didn’t say what it was. Hammor couldn’t remember making anyone mad too recently; so he was more curious than worried. When the door opened, he stepped inside, walked up to the desk, and said “Yes, sir? You wanted to see me?”

Hammor, Ops

Orvos set down the Padd he had been glossing over and straightened up as Hammor entered the office. “Yes, please, take a seat if you will.”

He stepped to the replicator with his empty glass and refilled the iced tea he had been sipping from. “Anything to drink?” he asked before diving in to the subject at hand.

“I’m good, Captain. Thank you.” Hammor said and took the seat as instructed. “So what can I do for you, sir? I’m trying to remember if I had ticked off any Quarter masters lately, but none come to mind.” and he chuckled.

Orvos gave a light grin. “No, nobody is angry with you. Well, at least not yet anyway.” He gave a small chuckle as he leaned forward. “After our last mission, our chief engineer was given new orders upon our return here to starbase. So, I’m down an engineering chief. I decided to take a look into your file after the last mission. Multiple commendations along with a fast track through the ranks. In fact one officer noted a certain ‘logistical prowess’ you seem to have. You even persevered enough to get into the academy after several applications. And it seems serving aboard the Manhattan and the Dresden managed to land you here on the Athena after some time. You have an innate understanding it would seem of most things involving engineering. And given your time as chief of operations here on the Athena, I thought best to offer you the position first. So…thoughts?” he leaned back with a grin on his face, curious how the orion would take the offer and his little speech.

Daggum leanef back, the shock apparent for a moment before he said “Well… that is most definitely not anything I expected to be presented with coming in here.” and he smiled slightly. Daggum was silent a moment and then said “I haven’t been an actual Engineer for some time, Captain… but yes. I’d like the job. On one condition. I want to be responsible for all the Engineering department orders. Whomever takes over Operations can have everything else… but I want to handle all of our own requisitions.”

Orvos leaned back giving it a brief thought. “I’m sure that can be arranged. I remember having the job myself and did all the requisitions. We didn’t have any Head of Ops at the time so things had been different. Had a lot more on my plate. If you ever feel you need assistance, let me know as well. I have a background in engineering, especially here on the Athena. If you have any questions or need some help with something, let me know.”

“I absolutely will, Captain. And thank you.” Hammor leaned forward. “If we are done, sir, I think I should make myself known down in Engineering. I… ha e a lot to catch up on. I think.” and he chuckled slightly.
