Janna didn’t have a good angle to make it all the way through the wormhole, but she could try to line it up to do so next time. “How exactly did you learn this? And if Doctor Grey doesn’t know about it, do you think that was a wise decision?” She tapped the ball and it rolled to the entrance of the wormhole right where she wanted it to be for a better shot next time.

Liam was quiet for a moment. His eyes followed Janna’s ball as it glided over the artificial turf and rounded about for a better angle. The answers were clear in his head as he pondered over the deliverance.

He sighed, “I tested it on my own in the holodeck a few days ago. Doctor Grey and I had placed specs into the program for testing my condition in extreme fire. First day we stopped at the max conditions for a human and recorded the results. It’s been difficult since to schedule another day to progress it.”

Shifting about, he leaned and tapped his ball while continuing with his tale.

“Looking back on the records, I noticed something. My oxygen level was normal despite the heavy smoke. So I attempted another experiment with smoke only.”

He watched the ball curve and halt just centimeters from the hole. “In hindsight, it wasn’t wise. If things went wrong, no one would known until the holodeck safety measures activated.”

“Hmmm.”

It curved just outside of the hole before it came to rest. His head turned back to her with a question. “You’re not going to tell on me?”

Janna lined herself up and tapped the ball through the wormhole and it rolled within a few centimeters of Liam’s. “Should I? This sounds like new information that the good doctor should be aware of for many reasons. The method would come out anyway, wouldn’t it?”

“I suppose the question I should ask out of an abundance of caution is why you knowingly put yourself at great risk without there being a great need for it?”

“Yes. Especially since the Doctor will need the results to update my medical records. He’ll be sure I know his thoughts on it.” Liam sighed, then moved to his ball. With a soft swing it flow over the turf into the hole.

“Frustration and impulsiveness. Usually I know my limitations, but now… I don’t. That sense of not knowing has been gnawing at me. Follow that up with one really bad day, and it’s a recipe for disaster,” He stepped back for her turn to begin.
