Kingston mirrored the smile, but it was genuine. “You’re a very smart woman Serena. You have all the tools you need, and where you don’t we can craft adn hone them together. I know I’ve told you this before, but, you’re not alone here. Not if you don’t want to be.”

“But knowing and doing are two different things. You have the information, but now we need to put it into action. What are two specific things you can do today after our chat that will help you find balance?”

Serena nodded. “Well, stop eating in my quarters for one. Go link up with the senior staff and chiefs. We’re stuck on this boat together for a while. Might as well stop hiding. See where I might be able to help some others that are struggling. And just see where things go. And probably go for a hike or something, even if it is just the holodeck. Would be nice to be up in the mountains and trails again, even if it’s only ‘sort of.’”

Stone

Janna nodded and smiled. She was still holding Serena’s hand but gave it a gentle squeeze before she let go. “You have this and if you want some company for that hike, just say the word. I love being outside even if, as you said, it’s just the holdodeck. Just… not dangerous rock climbing or anything, please? I can still bleed even if the safeties are on,” she said with a gleam in her eyes.

“Nah, no rock climbing. Though that could be fun. I’d rather just get out, move my body without a major workout, and take in some sights and scenery. Fresh air, or as fresh as I can get on a ship. Maybe throw in some jogging and cardio later,” she said with a smile that radiated fondness and nostalgia. “And company would be nice. Figuring out the when would be the trick. After evening meal maybe. Also, I should take advantage of the swimming pool here. I miss swimming a lot.”

Stone

“The pool is great. So nice to have,” Janna agreed. “And we have three arboreta on board too, if you don’t have time to go for a proper hike, but are about the ship. Just walk a loop in one and spend a few minutes around living trees and plants.” She broke into a chuckle. “I should take my own advice too.” She leaned back in a little. “Just so you know, you’re not the only one who needs to reminded to find balance. There are six therapists for a crew of a thousand. It’s always busy and sometimes I need the reminder to take care of myself as well.”

Janna leaned back. “Tomorrow. Lunch break. I can book a holodeck or suite for us and we go for a walk in the woods. I can eat at my desk later,” she said with a wink.

Serena gave a single nod, another pleased smile blossoming across her face. “Sounds like a plan, and a good one. As for the arboretums, I’ll have to take a cruise through them. Do you know if any are growing any produce?”

Serena

She shook her head. “I don’t, honestly, though I think Arboreta 3 has more gardening type stuff. Commander Calloway might know. She a massive gardener. The only plant I have is an African violet Captain Koraia gave me.”

Janna considered Stone for a moment and thought she partly knew the answer, it was only a glimmer of it. “How are you feeling about our session right now?”
