Orvos stood staring at the viewscreen intently, his thoughts bringing to mind that which he felt he shouldn’t explore. Yet if there was something to be had in it, if there was something that could clue them in more on what was going on. He was the captain of the Athena, and whether starfleet liked it or not, he had a group of people…a family…to protect and ensure they got home safely.

His gaze then turned behind him to his Chief Intelligence Officer as he eyed her curiously. After a moment, he said, “Commander, can I see you in my ready room please?” Without another word, Orvos moved. “Lt. Meadows, you have the bridge until we get back.”

Meadows looked nervous, but exuded a confident “Aye, captain.”

-Captain Orvos Legen, CO

Faye just gave Legen a nod and followed him into the ready room.

~Faye Calloway, CIO

After Faye and Orvos had their private meeting away from other prying ears, the duo rejoined the bridge. Orvos already had an inkling that something more had been going on while they were away. He could sense it.

“I assume communications are still open?” he said to the helmsman.

“Aye, sir,” replied Matthias as he looked to confirm.

=/\=Away team, I need a report.=/\=

=/\=Counselor, any news on your end?=/\=

Orvos took the center seat once more, his eyes more set as he pushed himself past the uneasy temporal feelings wreaking havoc on his senses. He was determined to set things right once and for all.

-Captain Orvos Legen, CO

Faye slipped back into the seat next to Orvos and listened to the chatter as it unfolded. She was emotionally contained once again and eager to hear some sort fo good news.

=/\=We’re in Sickbay and Dr. Grey is scanning my counterpart from the Shai to see if we can glean any useful information.=/\=

~Janna Kingston, CNS

Orvos raised an eyebrow and glanced over at Faye briefly. =/\=The counselor of the Shai is here on the Athena?=/\= almost as if he needed to make sure he heard correctly as other reports streamed in.

-Captain Orvos Legen, CO

The voice of the Athena’s Chief Medical Officer answered =^=Aye she is, I would like it noted where things get noted that I already voted against more temporal shenanigans=^= He said the latter sentence in a sour tone.

Dr. Grey - CMO

=/\=I tried that as an engineer, doctor. Didn’t work then either unfortunately.=/\= he replied in jest.

Shock, who was in Sickbay with their Shai guest, Kingston and Grey continued the conversation:

“Captain – our guest from the future is under supervision from security. It is imperative that with regard to her and the Shai, we follow the directives on minimizing contamination on the timeline.” It was his duty to uphold the security and regulations. Whatever the circumstances, timeline incursions and contaminations are to be avoided at all costs. Wars had been fought over the timeline – it cannot under any circumstances occur again.

– Lt Shock (COS)

Orvos happened to glance to Faye for the briefest second before replying. “How exactly did she get aboard?” he asked with intense curiosity.

-Captain Orvos Legen, CO

“Captain,” replied Shock, “we cannot at this point determine how exactly she got here. The chief scientist is not on board, and this situation is novel. As my team and I were looking for Dr Kingston on this ship, we arrived at the counselling department, but suddenly found ourselves transported to another dimension, or situation, which I can only interpret as the Shai. This was when Dr Kingston and her colleague from Shai were conversing with another. Moments later, all of us, including Dr Kingston and our guest from the Shai, found ourselves back on the Athena. We immediately went to Sickbay for evaluation. Once the physician clears us, you may meet with her to appraise yourself of the situation. We will come to the bridge, unless you order us elsewhere. Our guest remains under security escort, for the integrity of the timeline.”

Shock had spoken long, but the captain asked “how exactly” she had come here. While Shock was unable to answer to that level of detail, the details that he could provide would help reach a bit on the way to “exactly”. He thought it would be good for the captain to meet with Elena. After all, El-Aurians had a certain ability to appreciate temporal matters, together with their longevity and accumulated experience of various peoples and species as well as anomalies.

– Lt Shock (COS)

Waiting for the cross-ship chatter to die down, the XO’s voice cut in, sounding both thoughtful and troubled. =^=We’re getting there, at a glacial pace, but we’re getting there, Captain.=^= Then her voice cut in again. =^=This should be going faster. We saw a much bigger effect earlier.=^= The pitch and tone was low, almost as though she were talking to herself, working through the problem, thinking out loud.

After a solid minute Serena’s voice filled the air again. =^=Mister Madison, take a look at that.=^= She paused, then the Athena received a data link from the Shai. In it there was a filtered view of the rift, the anomaly, mapped in four dimensions. Then it simplified into a 3D model and faded mostly into the background. Overlaid through it was a flowing fog of neon green chroniton particles emitting from the rift and the ships. It showed the flows along the tractor beam, as well as spikes of flows back through the rift, as well as just spewing outward in all directions, from the Shai, both versions, and the Athena.

=^=Athena, I’m feeding you some filtered data that somewhat maps this tangle in time.=^=

Stone, XO
