“Oh hello, Ted,” Shock said. “May I ask for a pot of Biluochun tea, please, big enough for a few cups for me and my colleagues?” Choosing an Earth tea seemed like the safest option, given the human majority. Though secretly, he did want some plomeek…

– Shock

“Yes, I can absolutely have that out for you in just a few minutes. I have a new set of china that I’ve been wanting to present and this seems like the perfect time to do it.”

Calloway’s brows lifted as her mind tried to understand exactly what had just happened before her eyes. “I suppose my order will arrive the old fashioned way.” If she got food. At least she’d get some tea. “And what exactly are these unique talents?” Faye asked, trying to keep her voice light.

~Faye Calloway, CIO

Ted placed Faye’s order down in front of her and narrowed his eyes when he realized what Mr cabal had done.

“I didn’t think he was supposed to do that.”, Ted whispered before turning back to get shocks tea.

Liam received his answers rather quickly based on everyone’s reaction. Checking the temperature of his skin, he then raised his arms to rest on the table. He felt grateful that it cooled nearly as fast as it heated up. Lt Commander Faye was the first to inquire about the odd delivery service much to his appreciation.

-CSO, Liam J. Madison, Sci.

Marishka took a drink of her coffee and smiled. She could tell the new strain of beans were coming along perfectly. By this time knowing her staff as she did, she had a pretty good idea of whom had even brewed the cup.

“So good you ventured back into the lounge Liam. I hope we hadn’t scared you away the last time you were here. As far as Mr Khabal’s talents, Faye, you’ll have to request his presence at our table so that he can tell you himself. It’s a one-on-one type of conversation. Would anybody else like anything?”

  • Marishka

It wasn’t but a couple of minutes later when a pool of unnaturally dark Shadow flowed up from underneath the table, an obviously unnatural behavior for shadows, next to Shock and, in the moment that it was there, it left a fresh tea set with his tea sitting next to him before flowing back over the edge of the table and vanishing. The whole process was totally silent and took less than a second. Easily missed by anyone that wasn’t looking in Shock’s direction at that moment.

  • Khabal, Parthenon delivery service (?)

After that, Ensign Haroon walked into the lounge, looking exhausted already. Busy day it would seem.

He came up to their table. “Am I welcome to join you here?” He said, noticing that there were multiple people here who seemed to have been eating and/or chatting for quite some time before he showed up and understanding if he would be an intusion.

Ensign George Haroon (Science)

Shock stood up, “Of course”. He moved to the table next, and grabbed a chair, and brought it back to the main table where everyone. “Please sit. I am Shock, chief of security. I don’t think we have met before.”

– Lt Shock (COS)

Faye lifted a hand in a pseudo wave. “Faye Calloway, Chief Intelligence Officer.”

“Nice to meet the both of you.” Haroon said, taking the chair and sitting down.”

“Of course not. It is just hard to keep track of time for me. I will admit, taking an injection is easier than ordering up food most days and that hasn’t helped.” Liam commented after catching Marishka’s words.

“No, I believe I’m good. I missed the flavor.” He politely declined. The man knew if LB started to feel too hungry then he had an injector on hand.

Haroon, one of his science officers, shortly joined them. Liam recalled the intervene when the man first arrived and assumed he had settled in well. It remind him that he needed to schedule a training session in the holodeck with security.

The sound of a chair moving caught the CSO’s attention. His eyes turned to the COS as he spoke up with another suggestion.

“It might be better if we can put two tables together as well. It gives us more space.”

-CSO, Liam J. Madison, Sci.

Marishka thought about what had just been said and realized it would be incredibly hard to put two round tables together. Luckily, that wouldn’t be a problem the way she intended to do it. Standing she smiled and looked around.

“You mean like this? Please, everybody’s cuz your chairs back a bit.”

Leaning over slightly she pressed a button in the middle of the table and waited a bit. The top of the table starts to rotate as pie shaped wedged seams begin to show up. The sections spread out leaving gaps but other panels come up to fill those gaps. Once the table stops rotating it has increased to approximately twice its size.

“Now, if we need any more chairs I’m sure Ted and the others can bring them quickly. Think this is big enough?”

Marishka’s trickery impressed Shock. It was an elegant design for the table, and one which was highly functional for the situation.

“It’ll work just fine,” Calloway said, settling her chair back in place and resetting her omelet in front of her. Outwardly, Faye was simply quiet as everyone, including the ensign, settled in at the larger table. Inside she was forcing herself to relax. It wasn’t their fault that her anxiety escalated the larger the group got. At least at this point she knew how to tame it. Mostly. If it wasn’t such a complication, she’d bring Tess with her, but it just wasn’t an option. Her mind was also doing its usual thing of multi-branching thinking. A whole bunch of things had happened in the last few minutes that left her needing to process. She turned to Shock. “I’ve never had Biluochun tea. Where is it from? I grew up with a lot of Vulcan teas that my parent’s friend always had with her, as well as Bajoran deka tea.”

~Faye Calloway, CIO

“From Earth, Ms Calloway, by the hills of Lake Tai in the region of the Yangtzee Kiang delta of Asia. I suppose I am not a very good Vulcan when it comes to teas, as I, in fact, prefer the teas of Earth, particularly of the east Asian style, over other teas. Ironic that our tea tastes reciprocal in that way. A human enjoying Vulcan teas, a Vulcan human ones.” Shock spoke softly with a touch of warmth, though his face had, as usual, no expression beyond the normal.

At Marishka’s request, Liam slide back and raised his tray out of the way. He observed the woman press into the center and twist. Promptly the table’s edges extended out almost like a blooming flower. Rather useful, Liam thought.

His legs pulled him back to the edge and he set his tray back down.

“That’s a unique design and I think this is enough room.” He commented, getting comfortable once more.

Marishka looked Liam in the eyes and smiled remembering the time they had spent together and perhaps planning some for later.

“I’m full of surprises. I enjoy showing if you off every once in awhile. This seemed like the perfect opportunity.”

  • Marishka

“Unique design indeed.” Haroon agreed. Never before had he seen a table do that before, but it was rather cool in his personal opinion.
