: : : : : : : Ghubari smiled at him, feeling his sincerity. “I believe you. And that’s why I’m admittedly a bit excited to have you here and why I’ll give you a fair bit of latitude. So much has changed and we’re just all trying to keep up.” She too glanced out momentarily and then back at him. “And f there’s one thing I know about this crew , it is that many people come here looking for something in their life. Sometimes they know what it is and sometimes they aren’t even aware they are searching. But whatever it is, I hope each one finds it, including yourself, Eliath.” Her pale amber eyes gazed at him intently with the small smile still on her face.

: : : : : The words were heavy on Elliath - was he trying to offer peace to others, or still searching for something himself? He liked to imagine sometimes that he had what he needed, but, this was yet another sought-after transfer after many more before. Maybe she was on the money. “Thank you, Captain,” he said, “… I have a good feeling about this place. With the people here it seems like a good ship for people to do that.”

: : : : She smiled more openly before erupting into a chuckle. “It’s also full of surprises. If I can offer one other word of advice, it’s to not underestimate anyone here, nor the interesting… trouble we seem to get ourselves into. You have been warned,” Ghubari said more solemnly.

: : : Elliath smirked! His family’s business dealings hadn’t always been spelled out properly in inventory manifests and the man would be lying if he said none of that had rubbed off on him. “In that case, Captain… I’m sure I’ll fit right in.” Though, he did understand the gravity of it - while he’d heard of the incident on public record, he’d also heard rumours of things happening on board the Athena. It was a ship not at all disconnected from the shadows in Federation space, but, again, he’d be lying if he said he didn’t know some people. “I will certainly mind my steps until I get a good sense of the terrain. When you’re born and raised shipside you quickly learn to watch your step when visiting uneven ground, Captain.”

: : She nodded. “Losing a leg does that to you too. You get used to feeling not quite balanced. One of most most vivid fears was actually losing suction and having the damn thing pop off during a conflict.” There was an ease in the way Ghubari spoke that suggested it was not so much of a traumatic thing as it might have been once. Though she was still getting used to her rejuvenated limb, she seemed far more at ease in life than she ever had before. There were a lot of reasons for that and they had all come together here on the Athena.

: : Reaching out a dark hand and offering it to him, there was a deep and contemplative smile on her face. “I have some thing to get to, and I have no doubt you are wanting to get settled in. But I’ll be by. And, for the record, I have a good feeling about this Eliath, and I always trust my instincts.”

Elliath took his cue, stood up from the chair and reached out his hand to grasp hers. “I’m glad you feel as I do, Captain. Once I’m properly settled in and meet some more of the crew I’ll come up with a plan on that branding initiative to run it by you,” he said. Elliath left the room and headed straight for the turbolift - next stop, his quarters, then the cargo bay to check stock transfer from Starbase, and then back to 17/18 Forward to do more sizing-up of the place. There was a lot of work in front of him.
