She was gathering all the tidbits and they were slowly forming a picture, though it wasn’t as complete as she needed just yet. “I see. What about here on the Athena? Do you think you’ll be able to make friends with your shipmates?”
~Janna Kingston, CNS
Bump
“I do believe I will. I tend to make friends with most of the people I meet once they crack my shell.”
Ensign George Haroon (Science)
Janna smiled. “And how does one go about doing that?” She had a small hunch but was wasn’t sure yet if it was likely to be true or not. Then agian, she trusted her hunches a great deal and they generally serve her well.

He thought for a moment. “If they make me hang out with them enough that I start to feel comfortable around them, they’ve done it.” He said.

Her grass green eyes studied him for several moments. “So you have to be forced to socialize?” she asked lightly, her expression neutral. It wasn’t a bad thing or a good thing, at least by what her body language conveyed.
~Janna Kingston, CNS
“Generally yes.” He said, leaning back in his chair. “Otherwise, I may just be a hermit!” He said with a chuckle.

“How have you coped so far then at the Academy and on your training cruise on the Challenger?” Janna asked. She was starting to get the thread of an idea and while it wasn’t an unusual way to handle a situation, she didn’t rely on it heavily.

“I didn’t have a whole lot of unrequired interaction. It happened here and there but not often. I don’t quite know how close they were to breaking me out of my shell.”
Ensign George Haroon (Science)
Janna studied for him a moment, her expression very neutral. “Tell me about the last interaction you had with someone outside of work that you found meaningful, and when that was.”
~Janna Kingston, CNS
“It was five months ago, back on the Challenger. James Black, a fellow cadet, was helping me unpack what I had yet to still do so when I first got on board. Before that? I don’t remember. We did have a meal together and worked quite nicely however.” He said, sincerity in his voice. He really did just do what was required in the social space.
Ensign George Haroon (Science)
OOC: I probably made a few parts of that up, as he and I didn’t 100% complete the side sim. However we also hadn’t had any interaction in it in about a month when it came time for my graduation so I felt it was best to just pretend that chapter saw a conslusion.
OOC: I think it works just fine. So says me, since I was the GM, lol.
IC:
Janna smiled. “So you have the basis to replicate something similar here and you know it has the possibility of working out well.” She might not have needed to spell it out for him, but it seemed important that Haroon was reminded of these details.“In the next week, you are going to be settling in more, getting to know the others in your department and meeting others of the crew. Name one thing you can do to help yourself settle in as a member of the crew.”
~Janna Kingston, CNS
OOC: Lol, thats funny
IC:
He thought for a moment. “Maybe I could try to not just go to my quarters and sleep every time I get off duty. Instead maybe go do something recreational.” He said, not 100% sure what he would do but he basically told himself ‘Eh, I’ll give it a shot.’
