Koraia smiled sincerely, almost in relief. “Family… yes, this crew is definitely a family. Sometimes quite literally, too. I’m married to our Chief of Security, Our Chief Intelligence is married to one of our counsellors and that same CIO is my chosen brother. Family is apt.” She dropped her arm from the back of the couch and leaned towards the XO. “I suspect we’re going to get along just fine, Luka of Galdori. it may not always be smooth, but I have a feeling we’ll find out way.”

“I doubt I’ll be finding interspecies romance like all of you,” Luka said with a small smile. There were reasons for that, but they were a lot to get into in a short conversation like this. “And it’s, um… It’s Galdor, captain,” Luka hesitantly spoke, eyes wide for a moment. “Galdori is the term for a native of the planet Galdor…”

The CO’s deep accent caused the ensuing chuckle to sound deeply in her throat. “Well, I guess that just means I have some studying to do, now doesn’t it? I’ll try to get it right next time.”

Sitting back up again, the CO nodded. “Okay, you have a lot of settling in to do and we’re not going to be able to answer every question in this meeting. I suggest we meet later, maybe for dinner? What sort of foods do you enjoy?”

Fl. Captain Koraia, CO

“I would most certainly enjoy a meal. I’m not picky when it comes to food. Anything you can digest, I can digest as well. I’m willing to try anything you put on my plate,” she said. “I have, however, found myself particularly fond of this human food which is called… Pizza. It is… Fascinating,” she spoke.

“In the meantime, if you want to know more about, well, what I am, you can read the information on my species provided on the PaDD, or, erm, you can ask me anything you’re curious about.”

The PaDD provided basic information on the Laleri, and info about their planet and the five intelligent species native to said planet.

“You can be sure I will,” Koraia said with a nod. “As for dinner, I have an idea…”

Moving back to her desk, she bent forward at the hips and fiddled with something on her computer console. “Okay… I was able to sneak in a booking for Holosuite Two at 1900 hours. It fits for me and should give you enough time to take care of the essentials without running yourself ragged. Meet me there and I’ll cook you dinner…” she said, her pale amber eyes holding a hint of mischief.

Fl. Captain Koraia, CO

“Alright,” Luka said a little uncertainly, tilting her head. She was intrigued. “Is that all, Captain, or is there anything else you’d like to discuss with me before I go check in with Medical and Counseling?” She asked. Koraia was, like most people Luka had met, an interesting mystery. Perhaps it was simply a shared trait of all intelligent beings, to be fascinating enigmas. The complexity of life and consciousness certainly lent itself to such a fact.

“Oh, there is one thing I should mention. I have a pet, Mukin. He is an animal from Galdor, and he is well trained. Given this vessel’s capacity to house a civilian population, I hope my small animal will not cause issues?” She fiddled with her URI for a moment and a photo of the animal appeared on the display, which Luka held out towards Ghubari. The animal looked like a rabbit at first glance, but the face was structured a little differently, and it had wings. “Here, there’s a photo of him. If it is a problem, I can have him sent back to Galdor to my family…”
