“That’ll be fine,” she said quietly. Though she’d only been there for a short while, she now looked worn down and her features were drawn. “If something comes up, I’ll notify you.” Of course with all the inter-connected systems on the ship that was relatively easy. And of course the appointment would get fed into her agenda/itinerary too. “Anything you need from me, Ensign?” The use of rank might have been formal any other time, for the moment it sounded casual, and more like a name.

Cherry smiled at Serena with warmth. “No, nothing specifically, but thank you for asking, Commander. Kingston runs a pretty effective department. Though between you, me and the bulkheads, when I take R&R I have no doubt they’ll manage without me, but it won’t be nearly as smooth,” she said, a glimmer appearing in her eyes.

Serena broke into an small, involuntary, but tired smile and nodded. “Probably not. Good help can be hard to find sometimes,” she mused. “Pretty sure you know just about everybody on this ship as they all have to come through here eventually. Anybody I should take an interest in, or watch out for? And… anything in particular of note for R&R?” Cherry seemed like the type that was a hard worker, but also played hard, at least in her estimation. And as one of the gatekeepers on the ship, she would know a lot about the goings-on.

Cherry leaned on the desk before her, and looked up at Stone with an appraising gaze. “Well, anyone who might come to mind I’ve no doubt you’d hear about through personnel reviews or the like,” she said. Give the department, Blossom was exceptionally discreet. “But for R&R, it would be good to keep in mind that, one, our last official R&R resulted in yet another traumatic event for the crew, and two, we’ve not had official R&R yet, but the crew is taking it as they can. Except probably those that really need it,” she said with emphasis. “I think you’ll know who those are in short order. A hint on this ship? It’s usually the ones that seemingly have everything under control.”
