For a moment Janna felt disoriented, like she were in multiple places at once, and experiencing some sort of vertigo. “I could ask you the same thing. I was just standing in mine. Where is your office? Are you on a ship?” Kingston asked.

“This is the Counseling office on the USS Shai.” Elena responded. “Where did you come from? What ship were you on?”

Wait, what? That couldn’t be possible. “I’m a counsellor too, on the USS Athena. We stumbled upon your ship. I believe an away team went to investigate.” So far, Janna hadn’t moved from her spot. But now she needed to test things and gather more information. “I don’t know how or why we can talk to each other this way, but it might have to do with some sort of anomaly we detected,” she said as she took a step towards Elena, testing that basic action.

“We were investigating an anomaly too…” the other counselor stood and walked around the desk to face Janna. “I didn’t think they’d have much need of me. So I stayed in my office and was finishing up some patient reports… now here you are. USS Athena… doesn’t sound familiar to me.”

“Funny, I was doing the same thing,” Janna said, pondering how to address the last comment. The Athena had a certain amount of fame (and perhaps notoriety) for getting itself into a lot of big and consequential missions that ended up being classified. But did that mean that everyone knew of their ship? No.

“I don’t know how we can be in the same place on different ships, but it clearly has to do with the anomaly.” Kingston gestured to Elena. “Your uniform is different too. I don’t recognize it. What year is it for you? It might have to do with why you don’t know about the Athena.”
