Faye had changed into her usual off-duty wear of grey cargo pants and one of her slogan t-shirts. This one was blue with the words, I’ve got a good heart, but this MOUTH emblazoned in white. She nodded at Daggum. “I knew he wouldn’t mind, but it’s still all a little weird. But we can focus on our side of things now. I can’t say I know any lawyer folk though. Did you have someone in mind?”
~Faye
Daggum was staring at the words on her shirt and grinning wickedly. “Uh… huh?” he said and then shook his head and said “Lawyer. Right. Um… hang on.”
Faye eyed her husband with a quirked eyebrow, waiting for the comment from the gutter that never came.
One thing Lieutenant Commander Daggum Hammor did that no ther Ops Officer did, or at least not nearly as well, is he developed contacts. Hammor’s time on the Athena was not long so far, but he already had a well-established reputation for getting things done. What no one but his wife knew was that this was done with a almost constant streams of favors, trades, and deals. If they were in north Africa on Earth in the ninth century (and he wasn’t a giant green alien)? Hammor’s textile empire would have been massive.
Daggum went to his files: a private and secure (by Faye, so SECURED) database of individuals and points of contacts; complete with biography, likes and dislikes, and their history with Daggum. He searched the names for someone that could help… and came up with a hit that made him grin. “Got it. Retired Captain from Star Fleet JAG. She is a great lawyer. And even better…” and he glanced at Faye and grinned.
“She owes me.”
Daggum
“Well that’s always helpful,” Faye said with a smirk. “What’s her name and did you want me to run a new background check. You never know what’s bene going on in the meantime since retirement,” she said with a slight shrug. Maybe it was a bit paranoid, but she’d rather offer and it not be needed then be caught unaware.
~Faye
Daggum took a breath and said “She’s really good, but sure if you want to. You may know the name… Captain Belinda Grogan. Ring a bell?”
Daggum
Faye snorted. “Wow… okay. Background check probably isn’t necessary. She’s clean. And I know this because she was the lead prosecutor in a big case involving scandal surround a Starfleet Admiral… Alex’s mom. Grogan’s case led to the Admiral being dismissed from Starfleet, so, yeah, I think she’s got a head for the nuances of this situation. Dare I ask how she landed in your database?” she asked with a smirk.

Hammor grinned. “Starbase One. She was mid-trial and her ‘logistics expert’ was going over his testimony with her when she suddenly realized he was a complete moron. Turns out he had been planted by the opposing council’s defendant she found out later. Anyway, she was stuck and had twelve hours to find and prep a suitable expert to testify. I was rhe Logustics Coordinator for the station, so she came to me. In twelve hours I had reviewed the flight schedules for two systems for the previous year and cross-checked them for discrepancies… of which I found several. And I’ll tell you… no matter how good of a pilot you are, you xan’t dock at one space station and then another station forty light years away in four minutes. Four minutes which happend to be the same window of the traffic control system’s update to central. Which yours truly testified to and the good Caotain got to throw the book at a corrupt merchant group.”

Faye chuckled. “Sounds about right,” she said with fondness for this man in her life. He was truly exceptional at what he did and his mind fascinated her.
“You going to send a message, or call?” she asked.
~Faye
“I’ll send a message with a little reminder. That should trigger a call, I’m sure.” he said with a chuckle. A few moments later he looked at Faye and said “All done. Now then… whatever do we do now? Because neither you nor I have work; and there is only so much time I can go without you s-” and the comms chirped. Daggum held up a finger and said “Hold that thought.” He looked at the terminal and then said “Huh. She’s going to call in an hour.” and he looked back at Faye. “We have an hour. Thoughts?” he asked with a gleam in his emerald eyes.
