“You’re right, you don’t. But I would understand if it brings up a lot of complicated stuff.” Dag always claimed he had dealt with all that stuff, and perhaps he had, but feelings had a funny way of launching a sneak attack.

Hand still on his arm, Faye gazed at him intently. “I’ll dig. But the question still remains, why is this woman trying to hand over a bunch of assets to you? If she isn’t your mother, what’s her goal in all of this besides getting us mixed up in potentially criminal activity?”

Daggum shrugged. “My knowledge of Orion contractual and family law is pretty damn limited. I hear even Ferengis get a third and fourth opinion when they make deals with the Syndicate. Do you know anyone who knows about that kind of stuff? Maybe we could another set of eyes on it… give us some perspective.”

Her mind traipsed to the first most likely person and then thought better of it. That was just… messy. Faye nodded. “Yeah, I have someone in Intel I can call. Once we know how this might look, we can evaluate her claim better. Send me the documents when she send them over?”

“Got ‘em right here. She was quick to send it.” and he shunted the file to Faye’s system. He looked back at her and said “My first thought was to ask you know who… but I thought better of it. Thats too much of us I don’t want him to have… you know?”
