Oh, there was going to be some digging on her part. Faye leaned in with unbridled hostility. =/\=I don’t take kindly to threats and since you have no idea who I am, I’d be very careful who you continue to insult. I know people too. Now, I will go tell Daggum that he has a call but it will be up to him if he deigns to take it.=/\= Without a pause, Faye put the call in standby and realized that her thighs hurt.
“Ow!” She looked down and saw that Tess was equally agitated and had dug her claws into Faye. The cat growled. “Yeah, I get it, but do you mind taking it out on her?” she said, carefully moving the grey and white ball of fluff to the floor.
Moving over to the bathroom, Faye stepped in and leaned against the wall. “Dag? There’s a call…” Uggh, did she have to sound so worried and equally angry?
“Can it wait? I’m washing my hair.” he said with a chuckle and then stuck his bald head out of the shower and said “Who is it?”
Faye waited till he met her gaze. “Keep in mind you are under no obligation to take this call, no matter if she did just threaten me with Admiral Jackass Gallren. Apparently, your petty Human of a wife is to cheap to be allowed to even know her name, but an Orion woman is on the line claiming to be your mother. I think you know me well enough to know just how much willpower it took not to call her a zillion nasty names.”

Daggum blinked. He blinked again and a scowl crossed his face. “My mother? Well that’s some bullshit. Obviously someone is screwing with me.” He ducked in and rinsed off quickly and then stepped out of the shower and grabbed a towel. “Probably somebody from the Assistance Project looking for a shakedown.” he grumbled. He dried off and then went 8n the bedroom and pulled on a pair of sweatpants and a t-shirt with a human man in some kind of red devil mask and skin tight red suit swinging metal sticks with cable coming out of them while doing some kind of acrobatic martial art movement. At the top it read “DARDEVIL, The Man Without Fear”.
Daggum walked into the living room and sat down at the computer, the scowl still on his face. He keyed the comms and the woman’s face appeared and she smiled broadly. =/\= This is Lieutenant Commander Daggum Hammor of Star Fleet. Who are you and what are you calling? =/\= he asked in his ‘I’m-Gonna-Make-Your-Life-Hell voice he reserved for Quartermasters who tried to ness with his load-ins.
The woman’s smile never faltered, and her tears brimmed with tears. She reached for the screen as if to touch him, but pulled back hesitantly. A single gold tear escaped her eye and rolled slowly down her cheek. =/\= Mar… my baby… it really is you! =/\= and she sobbed softly. =/\= All this time… I never knew you lived. =/\= and more sobbing that spilled over into huge sobs and crying. Daggum leaned back and crossed his arms on his chest and said =/\= Ma’am, I don’t know who you are or what you are doing, but I do not know you. Are you sure you have the right person? =/\= She nodded emphatically as she lifted a white cloth to her face and wiped away her tears and wiped her nose. =/\= No no… I’m sure. I have spent years looking for you. I know you are my son. =/\= Daggum looked over at Faye and gave her a This woman is crazy look. He looked back and said =/\= Well, ma’am. I sincerely doubt that, but I have to tell you that your word on something like this isn’t going to cut it. You’ll need to provide a DNA sample for comparison. And you’ll have to have it drawn and testing somewhere that isnt Orion. =/\= She nodded and said =/\= I already did that! I contacted a an Admiral and he has been most helpful. Here, I’m sending you the results now. =/\= There was a delay, but the file arrived and Daggum opened it. It showed a lab report from Star Fleet Medical from a month prior. It showed that Daggum’s blood was a maternal- branch match of a sample given by one Mallaua Ch’frej. Daggum looked at it and then said =/\= Give me a moment. =/\= and he nuted the .mic and looked at Faye. “This can’t be right… can it?”
Hammor
Uggh. The waterworks after how she treated Faye just spoke to pure manipulation. She moved over, not even caring if the woman caught sight of her. She wasn’t hiding from her. “Never mind that the Admiral bypassed confidentiality of your records to help her, which makes me suspicious enough, but how did she even track you to Starfleet?” Faye bent and peered at the sample record carefully, her science background in exobiology rather helpful just now. “The markers do appear to match, Gem,” she said, standing back up and gazing at him. “Whether you want to trust results gathered under possibly sketchy circumstances, and that the match does in fact belong to that woman on the screen and not someone else, or you choose to verify the results another way, I do think you have to consider the possibility that she is your biological mother.” She reached out and rested a hand on her arm. “Whatever you decide, I’m with you in this, but do be cautious how you proceed and extend any trust. She called you on a Starfleet vessel and naturally assumed I was there being paid by the hour,” she said, raising her brows. They were both used to Orion women who flipped their emotions at the snap of a finger to get what they want. It would not work here, but there were bound to be a lot of emotions that came up for him and they couldn’t predict what that would look like.

Daggum looked at her for a long time and simply nodded once and turned back to the screen, united the mic and said flatly =/\= Whaddya want? =/\=
There was a pause and a look of shock from the woman. =/\= Wha..? I… =/\= and she took a breath and said =/\= Of course. You are angry… as you have every right to be. But Mar-, er, Daggum… I don’t know what you have been told or what you believe about what happened all those years ago, but you hav- =/\= and Daggum cut her of with a sharp whistle.
=/\= Stop. I just want to know what you want. I don’t need a grand story or a heartfelt… whatever. What do you want or need that would make you search for me over thirty years later. =/\=
