R’han could do the math and the mapping. The data inputs were pretty great, conversely space didn’t have a lot of things that would change the tactical picuture, hence the name… space. “Given general parameters an just presuming they would be near a area that would give a tactical advantage. There are 12 defensive position’s within their patrol sector that would provide sufficient defense to allow them to hold off a superior force for over 12 hours.”

R’han.

Bump

OOC: thank you, Linds, for the bump!

IC: The Montezuma was last reported behind a planetoid, that was thought to cause interference in various systems in a starship. The ship had hidden itself before power had been fully disabled.

NE Miller spoke up from nearby. “Finally got the bounce back from Starbase 157. Last-known coordinates were … here,” he said updating the chart-plot on the main viewer.

At the back of the bridge at the auxiliary science station, NL Sheridan began pulling up all the survey data they had on the region, as well as any gravitational fields and eddies. The most obvious factor would be the planetoid the Montezuma had bellied up to. If it lost power, it could get sucked down onto that rock. Or more likely it was an ice ball. But it was a starting point. But it had been under attack too. Clearly there were tactical considerations.

“Commander, they should be in range for us to pick up, but if I scan…”

Serena nodded. “We’ll broadcast our position.” For now they had a tactical advantage, running on passive sensors. Running silent. =^=Stone to Legen=^=

=^=We have some information on the last known position for the Montezuma. Nothing confirmed. If we start actively scanning we give away our position. How do you want to play it?=^=

Lt Cmdr Stone, XO

=/\=Let’s run those scans. I want to get our head on straight quickly. Too much oddities here and we need to keep figuring out more. Athena will hold.=/\= Orvos replied with every bit of confidence he had for the ship and her crew.

-Captain Orvos Legen, CO

Serena nodded, even though the man was out of sight. =^=Very well. I’ll get us under way. Stone out.=^=

Turning to regard the viewscreen she nodded. “Helm, lay in a course for those coordinates, maximum warp. Let’s pick up scanning and get some more information. Commander Calloway, if you could beat the bushes and see what you can shake out of your intelligence assets for this sector, I’m sure there might be some useful bits, if you please.” This she made as a genial request, giving the other woman a respectful nod.

“On it,” Faye said, sliding over to an empty station at the back.

“Lieutenant Shepherd…”

The olive-skinned science officer nodded. “On it, Commander. This reminds me of pirate hunting on the Draco, back when I was an ensign.” Lieutenant Grant had been a solid example at the time. Though the grim nature of the moment hung in the air, the tiniest bit of nostalgia brought a small smile to her lips. Stellar cartography and astrophysics were her bread and butter. The lieutenant let her fingers dance over the lateral sensor arrays, waking them up and beginning to slurp up every big and byte of data they could pick up about the target region.

“Good,” she said, making her way over to center chair. As soon as helm reported course was laid in, she nodded. “Let’s go.”

bump for GM?

OOC: My bad, missed it, thank you!

IC: As data started coming in, some of it was generic data on the area, such as stars and planetary data, but then it began to eek through. Data on the Montezuma, and something else. Initial scans showed it as a derelict ship on the same area, but small traces of power consumption show that it was at least previously running somewhat recently.

But basic scans were not what she was going for. Faye did an encrypted search for reports, records, communications, anything related to this sector. If this sector had any notes from another agent’s assignments, or had any event piqued Intelligence’s interest, it would be in the record. Even if she just got a name associated with something, she could at least try to contact them.

~Faye Calloway, CIO

At the Ops station, Hammor began studying the derelict ship, specifically where the power was coming from and where it was going. He also began running a comparuison to known vessel types.

“Keep adding your findings to the main display.”

Ideally, data would continue to trickle in, as they worked in real-time. Perhaps treating the bridge like a Combat Information Center was an old habit, but for now it made the most sense to her mind. With the crew working on their individual tasks, and the ship (presumably) under way based on her orders, Stone sat back in the center seat. Tapping at the arm controls she began reviewing what information she could on the Montezuma. It’s class. It’s command staff, and other senior members.
