Dawson had gotten his evals done and was going to touch base with the new CIO when the time came. She apparently seemed busy getting settled in, so he decided to meander his way to a certain lounge, run by a certain woman. He strolled up confidently to the bar with a grin on his face. He wore black slacks and a dark, semi-tight shirt that emphasized his strength. He wasn’t a man with bulging muscle, but he certainly was one with evident physique.
Dawson new the facade that Orvos had created would not last long. Quite frankly, he wanted to be there at the ready when it failed. But more to the point, she interested him. The pheromones in person only served to emphasize that too well. He kept his empathic senses open to receive whatever was happening as he looked about for that lovely green woman.
-Dawson, Intel
The bar was filled with the low murmur of conversation. The staff was busy at their normal tasks. Behind the bar a young mousy woman was being taken to task by Marishka herself.
“The one thing behind this bar I asked never to be touched, now I’m going to have to have it cleaned, restored, and removed, all because you couldn’t listen. I think your tenure here is over Sandra. You can reapply in six months.”
With that, the woman silently left. She had been trying to say her peace for the last five minutes but Marishka wasn’t having it. All Sandra had done was move and clean a small black saucer with a black, gold rimmed, cup. Sandra had even fixed the large chip in the rim. She had no idea why this upset Marsihka.
As Sandra passed by the newcomer she shot him a warning look.
A few seconds later Marishka, herself, turned around and saw Dawson at the bar.
“Are you a nightmare, a daydream, or an assassin?” she asked quietly.
- Marishka
Dawson took in the entire scene but was still mostly focused on Marishka. He wasn’t privy of the situation and a part of him felt bad for Sandra, but he wasn’t going to interject himself in a situation he knew nothing of.
“Not an assassin, could be a nightmare to some, but I much prefer to be the daydream,” he said with a slight grin. “How have you been?” He asked thoughtfully, his empathic senses open to her feelings whether she knew it or not.
-Dawson, Intel
Marishka’s racial make up, and many years of training, made it quite difficult for all but the most cunning of empaths to read. She found that those that tried usually had very dark intentions.
“How do you think I’ve been? It’s been, well, interesting. Now that you’re here, I have a feeling it’s going to get even moreso.” she paused and studied him a bit more closely, “Okay so, why are you here?”
- Marishka
Dawson didn’t pry with his empathy. Besides, he didn’t need it to gather what he wanted to know.
“Oh many reasons really. But ultimately, star-fleet has need of me to be here, on this ship. I’m technically civilian, I know, but they seem to still acquire my skills when absolutely necessary.” He then paused with a slight smile prying at the creases of his mouth, his eyes clearly entertained perhaps. “If you’re asking why I’m here in this room however…”
He paused, his eyes locked onto hers as he spoke. “Wanted to get a drink, and pay some attention to this establishment.” Was it really what he said? There were indeed perhaps layers to his words, with the possibility to discover the true meaning when peeled back like a banana.
-Dawson, Intel
Marishka held Dawson’s gaze for several long seconds.
“Right. Star Fleet needs you here and you had absolutely no peek at the crew manifest before you decided to fulfill their need because you’re just so good at fulfilling needs, aren’t you Dawson?”
Dawson gave a low, hearty laugh. “I certainly like to think so, though you may have to ask those to whom I’ve served.” He kept his eyes on her, knowing full well that keeping attention to her own eyes was key. He was good at this much at least. Though he was certain that Orvos would have missed her eyes completely and been fixated on something…else.
Perhaps there were layers of meaning to Marishka’s words as well. Suddenly, her day had just gotten more interesting so, of course, she would pour this man a drink and make certain he paid attention to the establishment.
“And what can I get for you… Good sir?” she asked.
- Marishka
He thought for a moment before replying. “I’ll try out your most commonly ordered drink here.” he said with an amused grin.
-Dawson, Intel
Marishka rolled her eyes and shook her head in disappointment.
“An ordinary drink for an ordinary man? Now I know you’re playing games with me. I’ll get you what you want just let me know when you change your mind.”
Marishka left the bar and returned to sit beside him with two cups of black coffee. There was a try of sugar and cream as well.
“Most people come here between shifts or use this place to pass time because they’re tired of their quarters. Now if you’re talking about an off duty drink, that’s an entirely different animal.” she said with a raised eyebrow.
- Marishka
Dawson grinned ear to ear. “I should have known. What’s the classic around here? Black or with sugar n cream? And yes, I most certainly would love an after hours drink as well.” he stated calmly and curiously, his eyes moving from the hot cup to her own, observing as much as he figured she was observing him.
-Dawson, Intel
Marishka gave him a look. She was used to being observed by men and a good portion of the female population but, every once in a while, someone’s observation of her felt different. Maybe Dawson was one of those people or maybe she was having an off day.
“I’m not really sure what’s more popular. Black, sugar, cream, there are even some races who enjoy putting ghost peppers into their coffee. I don’t keep that close of tabs on it.”
Marishka picked up a small bowl that one might keep sugar in and spooned a bit of chocolate into her cup.
“Now do you want that after hours drink after hours because, when exactly that is, is hard to define.” she said teasingly.
- Marishka
Dawson took a sip of coffee straight, getting a feel for the flavor. He then added some sugar and a pack of hazelnut cream to his brew. He listened to her as he did all this. Dawson gave a low laugh when she finished. “Well, you are the one pouring the drinks, right? When are your after hours?” he said with a flirty smirk.
