Faye wasn’t sure what was more poignant in this moment: his acceptance of her vow, or his given in return. They didn’t know each other. They were strangers who knew the details of classified personnel records, nothing more. And yet, she had chosen to call him, be open, not just because they were going to be working so closely to each other, but also because Daggum had trusted him. Stark had helped to create and test the device that had secured their hotel room so Faye could drop her guard and stop working about the shadows. She wasn’t sure if Nightstalker fully understood the magnitude of Daggum’s request, but she was immensely grateful for his contribution.

She smiled. =/\=Well, then, there we go. But before I go, I need the skinny on a couple people, if you’ll indulge me. I’m coming from a ship where the captain has become not just my best friend, but a brother to me. I’m not expecting anything close to that dynamic, but what can you tell me about the Athena’s captain, beyond a file?=/\=

At first glance, she comes across as being timid and hesitant, unsure of herself but she makes the hard calls when it’s necessary and she’s growing into a Captain that earns respect rather than demands it. Faye nodded slowly, taking in all this potential key information. =/\=Fresh perspective is such a kind way to put it,=/\= she said with a grin. =/\=I’m rarely someone feels ambivalent about. Fair warning that I rub a lot of people the wrong way. The only difference at this point in my career is that I care a lot less than I used to.=/\=

Stark raised a paw and rubbed his facial scar, =/\= I’ve been told I rub people as well, I prefer to think that they haven’t quite got the idea that different is just different, not necessarily wrong =/\=

She considered whether she should go forth with her next inquiry and decided it was worthwhile. =/\=Okay, an entirely personal inquiry, because I’m nervous as hell about this transition. As you can probably guess I spend some quality time with counsellors. I’m slated to meet with Doctor Kingston when I arrive. If it’s not impolite to ask, can you give me the skinny on her? Should I be, I dunno, worried? I’ve gotten along with the psyc people most of the time, but I’m not… an easy patient. To put it mildly. And she can make or break my career for me. I’m acutely aware of the power someone like that has over me.=/\= Power that made her squirm with unease.
