The intercom in Orvos’s quarters lit up with a voice. =^=Captain Wallace to Lt. Cmdr Legen, I’d like to see you in my Ready Room.=^=

Wallace, CO

Orvos was rarely in his own quarters. Not that he slept around in other people’s quarters. He was just busy all the time really. So it was a surprise for him to hear the captain’s voice play through his quarters. Why she wanted to see him was anyone’s guess really. =/\=I’m on my way,=/\= he said before heading there.

Soon he pressed the door chime, alerting her to his presence.

Jenn looked up from her desk. She had been staring at the various PaDDs with their important information for the entire time since she’d paged Orvos. She was nervous about the situation, she couldn’t lie. This could be the wrong decision… but she didn’t think it was. Orvos had done a great job re-taking the ship during their mission. Her first mission. She was sad that her first XO had to leave so soon, but emergencies were emergencies and she couldn’t blame the woman for that. A family emergency was how she’d gotten the job as XO, after all. And so quickly CO afterwards. “Come in!” she called, pressing the button that would open the door automatically. No. She was wrong to have doubts. Orvos would do great as XO. She just had to convince him.

“Orvos. Thank you for coming on such short notice. Would you take a seat?” she requested. The room was set up with far more clarity than it had been before the mission. Photographs of people were hung on the walls - Orvos would recognize the house in the background of some of the photos as the cabin from their holodeck misadventure. There were a few potted plants, and some little awards and things for Jenn’s work as a Starfleet Medical Officer were on the shelves along with other strange nick-nacks. All of Ghubari’s things were gone.

Orvos stepped in, sensing a sort of nervousness coming from her. He didn’t remark on it, but did as she asked, taking a seat before her desk. “Finally made yourself at home I see?” he said having taken in the effects of the space occupied by a new captain.

“Indeed,” Jennifer replied, taking a deep breath and gesturing to a couch that sat perpendicular to her desk - the only conventional chair was the one behind her desk. “Please take a seat.”

Once he had become seated, Jennifer steepled her fingers and looked at him with a very serious expression. She then began to speak, starting off coherently and with well-chosen words, but devolving slightly by the end of the statement. “As you likely have heard by this time, I have no Number One. The executive officer position is… empty. And I need to fill it. And I think you’re the right person for the job. You’ve been on this ship for far longer than I have and I think I need someone who knows this ship’s history, her crew, how the people here function as a team, better than I, someone who’s been here for… less than a month. So… What do you say?”

Orvos froze, however with a slight grin on his face. It was an expression of kindness as he considered his reply. He had afterall, come to the Athena as a chief engineer. He had no ambition for moving outside of that realm. He had captained a ship before, many years past. That ship was gone as far as he knew, and it was his own failures as the leader the Aurora crew needed that led to the demise of his own people. How could he even be trusted with that type of ability again? None of the Athena crew truly knew about it.

“What about Mr. Nightstalker? He knows the crew better than I. Yes, he’d make a fine first officer I would imagine.” he said thoughtfully.
