The Guardian of Forever sat alone on the planet but aware of what was happening above. The Guardian was aware of all… and yet controlled none. On some subliminal level the Guardian welcomed them all, especially the Time Sister who he had never met before today but had known for a millennia beyond.

Events were about to unfold, refold, bifold, polyfold and integrate into the tapestry ever changing as the great sluggish time river slowly set into it’s course like molasses. The one called Dulmur had been the first to understand that not all changes wrought parallel timelines but that the ravine of the universe only allowed time to change at nexus points, one of which was approaching as Time Sister and her allies sought to rework the disaster that had befallen the falling stars from above.

The Guardian waited… the Guardian was good at waiting.

Slowly but surely escape pods and shuttlecraft began to congregate around the Guardian of Forever. People were in shock, some were crying, others stoic and composed, many were injured from the not so smooth landing or indeed from the mad scramble to get into a pod at all. One youngster with wide eyes started to stumble towards the Guardian, drawn by the flickering images on it’s surface. His Dad held him back.

“Pretty” the little boy said and then gasped slightly. His Dad looked up and saw the dark figure of their Chief Intelligence Officer lying unconscious in front of the portal. Pierce stood in front of him like an avenging demon, suit and bowler hat in tatters, hair in disarray, madness in his eyes…

The Guardian’s voice boomed over the entire planet. “The conditions are met!”.
