In a previous life (not that that Faye would have ever considered life-long commitment before now), she would have simply suggested eloping and being done with it. No fuss, no muss. But the Faye of now had had too few celebrations in her life and this one was too precious to treat as an ordinary day. The day to come was as extraordinary as the two people joining their lives together, and thus Faye was knee-deep in wedding planning, what little she was doing. She wasn’t going crazy or anything and wasn’t one of those crazy brides who insisted on everything being perfect. It was, however, a nice distraction when other stuff was weighing on her mind.
Reaching over, she tapped a few keys into the computer on her desk before returning to her padd and stylus. She was making notes and lists, and it was time for organizational man to do his thing. This wedding was going to involve a lot of logistics, what with people coming from all sorts of random corners of the Alpha and Beta Quadrants.
Her keystrokes had initiated a communications subroutine she had created to do the work for her that would open the secure line to the Alpha Quadrant and to the Athena, specially to a large green visage she missed greatly. At least this time she wasn’t calling because of a crisis. She was good… well, as good as could be expected. But he was expecting her call. It was evening for him, late morning for her currently.
Tess seemed to sense her anticipation and nudged her head against Faye’s calf. Faye just patted the desktop and the cat took the invitation to join her, sitting watchful on the corner, out of sight but almost always guaranteed to be there.
~Faye, Bride-to-Be
It was mere seconds after the systems connected that the call was answered. Daggum, looking directly into the viewer, grinned as Faye’s face came into view. =/\= Well well well… if it isn’t my far flung bride-to-be. Hey love… how are you doing? It’s getting to be that time, you know. If you are gonna change your mind, better do it now. =/\= and he laughed. While Faye was unpredictable… even erratic at times… he knew her. And he knew, for her and himself both, that neither would change the upcoming nuptials for anything.
Daggum
“You just try to back out Hammor. See how well that goes for you,” she said, feigning an evil glare. She was joking. Mostly. Lifting her padd into his view, she exhaled. “Working out the details. Got everything more of less in order, but I wanted to check a few things with you.”
Suddenly Tess moved and stopped in front of the screen. Faye brushed the fluffy tail out of the way. “She’s miffed because I told her she couldn’t be the ring bearer.” This time she was entirely kidding. She scooped the empathic cat into her lap.
“So, two things really. One, any rituals or things for the ceremony you’re set on, like our own vows or stuff? Otherwise I was going to have Alex do a basic civil ceremony.” Faye reached up pulled her dark brown hair across and over one shoulder, her eyes momentarily sweeping over her list before she looked up at Daggum again. She smiled, one that was soft and full of adoration.

=/\= Nope. I’m a simple man with simple tastes, Faye… except, apparently, when it comes to women. =/\= and he smiled and winked. =/\= And a basic civil ceremony is fine by me. I don’t think Alex would makes us sound too ridiculous. =/\= and he laughed.

She cocked an eyebrow at him. “Oh, don’t be so certain, Love. I know Alex all too well. He’s not above a little embarrassment for a cheesy and romantic outcome. Trust me. Expect at least some mild teasing.” She jotted a couple things on her padd.
“So that’s a no to writing our own vows,” she looked up again. “Good. I figured we could get all mushy and stuff at the reception with speeches. At least then the pressure is off. It’s a party after all. But!” Faye leaned in, resting her weight on one arm on the desk. “I had this idea, something people did back on Tracken. During a joining ceremony of any kind, the officiant stood at the top of an aisle, like many Earth traditions. The witnesses walk up the aisle together and stand on either side of the officiant. Then the couple walks in from opposite sides to meet each other at the bottom. Then they walk up the aisle together. When they come to a stop, the guests gather in an unending circle together, with the officiant at the ‘top’ of the circle, with the couple in the middle. They’re surrounded by those they’ve chosen to be there. I always thought it was special, you know. Something a little different.” Faye seemed almost wistful.
