Daggum pulled her close and said “Just let ‘em out, V. Go ahead. It’s time.”

Daggum

The moment Daggum pulled her close, Viyara lost what little control she still had over herself and her emotions. She started to cry hard, though mostly silently, and her whole body shook. She hated herself for it and was afraid that her tears, her breakdown would do nothing but hurt Daggum. And that was the last thing she wanted. But she just couldn’t stop. So she did the one thing she could do and clung to him as she cried.

Daggum held her as she cried. Past the point of his shirt being soaked with tears. Past the point where her sobs came form a hoarse throat. Past the point where the tears dried up because she had no moisture left to create them. He stayed and held her as she… finally… let her emotions show.

Daggum

After a long time her sobs turned into hiccups till finally even those stopped. Feeling drained and exhausted, she didn’t say anything for a while but continued to lean against Daggum, though with her grip loosened. When she finally spoke again, she whispered hoarsely, “I’m sorry.”

Daggum caressed her back through the blanket. “For what? Being yourself? Being hurt and sad? We all are sometimes, V. All of us. I’m just really glad that it wasmy uniform shirt you chose to soak with your tears than anyone else’s. I’m just sorry I… well… I’m just sorry, too.”

Daggum

Drying her cheeks with her hands, Viyara lifted her head off Daggum’s chest and replied softly, “For breaking down like this. For burdening you. For being such a mess. For everything.” Placing a still slightly trembling hand on his cheek, she added gently, “You don’t have to be.”
