After reporting in to the Captain, Tello found her quarters and began putting them together—at least as much as the three boxes and duffle bag allowed. After a sandwich and cup of tea from the replicator and a quick shower, she was tired and turned in for the night.

The next morning, Annar donned a fresh uniform, ate a breakfast of toast and coffee and then set out to get her boarding evaluations done. Figuring the psych visit would take the longest, she set out for the Counselor’s office and palmed the chime at 0827 hours.

If there was one thing that Janna had become excellent at, it was maintaining a work-life balance. That is, she had until recently. The tsunami of post-mission trauma checks were about 80 percent done and much of that quick progress had been from the assistance they had been given from the Ogawa’s psychiatry team. They had just simply needed more hands on deck. But Iverson’s coming and going had thrown her for a loop and now Janna was regrouping.

PADD in hand, Kingston was moving towards the door when the chime rang. She had no appointments scheduled till later, so she was certainly free for walk-ins, so she opened the door. The rank pips and uniform were not what she was expecting, but Janna was used to new faces. New XO? she wondered. “Good day, what can I do for you Commander?”

Dark eyes took in the petite blonde Lt. “I’m Cmdr Tello Anaar, the new XO just arrived. I thought if you had a few moments we could get my boarding eval out of the way?”

Raising a pointed finger, Janna shook it once. “That I do. But I just need to drop something with Cherry and I’ll be right with you. Please do come in and make yourself comfortable.

Janna slipped past Anaar and over to the reception desk in the suite to hand something over to their primary assistant.

In the modest space, the petite woman seemed to fit the cozy setting. She didn’t go to great lengths to decorate, but it was definitely more than the standard grey furniture and carpet. On the wall above the couch was an image of an ocean scene that could be almost anywhere and the standard grey slim arm chairs had been replaced with softer larger armchairs in a dark blue that looked inviting to curl up into. On top of the standard carpet, the sitting area was covered in a plush rug in different shades of blues that matched the ocean in the photo. On the other side of the room where she mostly worked, there was a tall leafy plant near her desk and a single silver photo frame on the corner of the desk where she could easily see it when she worked at the computer terminal. Overall, the place was warm but practical and uncluttered- much like Janna.

The first officer turned to see who Cherry was. The receptionist had been away from her desk when Tello entered, so she’d just chimed a random door hoping to get her eval done. However, she had apparently returned and the counselor was handing over something to her.

Anaar returned her gaze to the inside of the Lt’s office and admired the shades of blue displayed there. Walking in, she chose to sit in one of the comfy looking chairs. Someone had told her over drinks once that it made a difference to some in the counseling field where their clients chose to sit. Refusing to drive herself crazy by overthinking that tidbit, her choice was random.
