With a grin, Ghubari shook her head. “No clue. but that’s okay, I think I get the idea. If you keep eating the curry, definitely make sure there is rice mixed in and that will help too. But don’t feel obligated on my behalf, Jennifer. Eating should be an enjoyable experience. No point in forcing yourself to eat what you don’t like. We don’t always get a choice in other areas, so I feel at least under normal circumstances that food is the one area you should be bold about but always gravitate towards what you like.”

There was a small hint of ease between them that she was enjoying. Ghubari wasn’t sure exactly what it was, but she was glad it was there.

“Aah,” Jennifer looked at the curry, then pushed the bowl away and focused on vegetables and rice, grabbing mouthfuls of it and chewing so she didn’t have to talk for a while.

“I think I’m going to stick to the non-spicy food if you don’t mind,” she smiled sheepishly.

Ghubari smiled warmly. “Do what you need to,” she said emphatically as dug into her curry again, debating whether she might go grab more chilli powder to intensify the heat.

“So how was being in charge of the ship in my absence?” she asked with a grin. It had only been two weeks, but it was as good a test as any, even if the ship had been docked the entire time.

“It was pretty good, actually. Nothing too exciting happened, and Hammor basically did most of the work of the review I was planning,” she replied, seeming a little salty at that. She’d been so excited to do something productive with the crew, and 80% of the work had been taken care of. Of course, she supposed that was the job that Hammor was here to do, on a ship as big as the Athena. Such administrative things were handled by the department heads on the much smaller ship Jenn had been on before.
