Swallowing a particularly tasty piece of cake, Hammor nodded. “Easy. USS Harbinger Dawn. You know it?” he asked.

“Great ship. Fantastic crew. And teh Skipper is one of the best officers I have ever served under. But it’s a flagship, so it is always having political and behind the scenes garbage going on, and I just couldn’t stand it. I mean… at one point I had to ensure that the shuttle bay was scented with hibiscus just so one Admiral could say that it was, and I quote, ‘The sweetest smelling ship in Star Fleet’. I kid you not.” and he laughed. “Do you have any idea how hard it is to get hibiscus oil into a non-sticking particulate and then send it through the life support to a single section of the ship?” and he laughed again. “No… no more of that, thanks. I’ll just be happy with constant threat of death, thank you very much.”

Hammor, Ops

Janna laughed. “You say that now,” she said with a grin as she pointed the tines of her fork at him. “But just you wait. And luckily, in the off chance that it catches you by surprise, us lovely counsellor folk are always on stand by.”

“Actually, despite my joking, I’m surprised how much I do enjoy it here. I was promised a quieter posting on a smaller ship, but was redirected last minute here. And it was a bit terrifying at first. But the crew really took me in as one of their own and it’s been good.”

Hammor smiled and said “Well, they do seem very welcoming and friendly… present company included.” and he smiled at her and then took a bite of cake. After swallowing, he said “So is there anywhere else you would want to be stationed? Like, if you had your pick of anywhere… would you stay or would you go somewhere else?”

Pondering this for a moment, Kingston continued eating her apple pie until she felt more sure of her answer. “You know, some days the answer is simply ‘right where I am’, and there are other times, like recently where I could see myself on a planet somewhere. But then I remind myself that it was on a planet that I was attacked by a vine, so…” Janna shrugged with a laugh. “Back to answer one.”

“You though, I can see needing a challenge, wherever it is. Something to make you get creative and think outside of the box,” she said. “Am I wrong?”
