Stark snorted, “If you’re not a hero when you join this crew, you’re going to be one pretty soon after it”. His eyes glowed, “The last couple of missions have tested us to the extreme but we’ve all changed because of it,” eyes narrowing he continued. “Your addition to the crew will continue that process I think”.
Hammor shrugged his shoulders and shook his head. “I’ve got no interest in being a hero. I just want to do the best job I can for the people on this ship. Anything after that is just extra.”
At a table not far from the two Senior Officers sat a slender Trill with a cup of something that had long gone cold in one hand and a PaDD in the other. As always when off duty, she wasn’t in her uniform. Instead she wore a pair of dark blue, skinny jeans with a few holes in it and a snugly fitting black t-shirt with sleeves made of black lace and black lace around the hem and collar; leaving the tattoos on her arms clearly visible. Her brows pulled together, she seemed to be in deep concentration. Quite a contrast to how most people on this had gotten to know her so far.
OOC: I hope you don’t mind me joining?
~Ensign Nazeen, Scientist
OOC: Not at all!
IC; Hammor’s eyes watched people as they came and went until they settled on the tattooed Trill. He looked at Nightstalker and said “The Athena crew is pretty eclectic, isn’t it? For instance -” and he nodded towards the singular figure and her PaDD. “Does everybody tend to work in their off hours as well? ” and he chuckled before he asked “Maybe we should ask her to join us? I’m definitely wanting to meet whomever I can.”
Hammor, Ops
“Eclectic is a good word for it, specialists in mayhem would be another way to sum it up. I think we work hard to keep distracted from having to process things”.
Stark grinned and waved for Nazeen to join them. “This might be interesting, being summons to the table by a man mountain and an assassin. This one has hidden depths though, don’t fall for the surface features”.
Stark Nightstalker CIO
“Most people do, if you take the time to look.” Hammor said quietly.
Maybe it was just a lucky coincidence, but Viyara just then happened to look up from her PaDD for the first time in quite a while. A lopsided, mischievous grin replaced the small frown instantly. And leaving the now cold cup of half-drunken Raktajino behind, she rose to her feet and made her way over towards the two men. As she crossed the short distance between them, she let her eyes wander slowly over both of them, Daggum in particular. Taking in every detail about both officers. Once she arrived at their table, she didn’t sit, but instead chose a spot to stand where she could see them both. Placing her right hand on the back of a chair and the left (with the PaDD) on her hip, she crossed her legs and pushed her hip to the left while letting her torso tilt ever so slightly forward. “What can I do for you?” Viyara asked with a slight purr in her voice.

Hammor looked at the new arrival and smiled. “Hey. I’m the new Ops Chief, Daggum Hammor. Was hoping that you’d join us. I’m trying to get a feel for the ship and was hoping to get some different perspectives.” and he motioned to a chair. “Care to join us, or if that is an interruption I certainly understand.”
Hammor, Ops
“Not at all,” Viyara replied with a charming smile as she placed her PaDD - face down - on the table and then slid onto one of the chairs. Crossing her legs at the knee and leaning, she placed her right elbow on the backrest and looked from one to the other. “It’s not every day one sees an Orion in a Starfleet uniform,” she commented with a wink. “Though as for getting a feel for the ship, I’m not sure you invited the right person to join you. I was transferred here only very recently myself.”
~Ensign Nazeen, Scientist
Hammor smiled and said “Unless you got here twenty minutes ago, pretty sure you have more time on board than I do. And no, not often. The gold clashes with our skin.” and he returned the wink. “So you are…?” and he looked at her waiting for the self-introduction.
Hammor, Ops
“Not much earlier,” Viyara laughed and then added with a wink, “I’m Viyara Nazeen. Your resident biochemist and forensic scientist at your service. Not that I’ve been able to put the latter to much use.”
~Ensign Nazeen, Scientist
Hammor nodded and said “Then it’s a pleasure to meet you, Ms. Nazeen. Forensic science… not a field I have ever dealt with, but then again I barely got past Organic Chemistry at the Academy, so there’s that.” and he chuckled.
Hammor, Ops
Stark was desperately biting down a string of comments he wanted to make about Orions and “chemistry” but he figured that they would have all been said and done before. He was content to sit and watch the interchange for the moment. The truth was such moments of normality were so few and far between that sometimes it was a novelty to just sit and listen without their being dire consequences on the line.

With a wink and a mischievous smile, Viyara replied almost instantly, “I could teach you some chemistry, if you like.” And as if she hadn’t just made a very obvious offer, she continued, “Forensic science is something that has always interested me. I like how so many areas overlap there and everything you can find out through testing small amounts of earth, water or something like a piece of fabric.” Her mismatched eyes sparkled with excitement at the mere thought of it. “Though as I mentioned, there seems to be little use for that sort of investigations in Starfleet. No bodies hidden in the Arboretum.” There was suddenly a slight shift in her expression. As if had an idea or played through something in her mind.
OOC: I finally updated her profile and linked photos to all (I think) her tattoos, in case you’re wondering what the ones look like that are currently not covered by clothing :)
~Ensign Nazeen, Scientist
Hammor smiled slightly at the potential innuendo, but listened as she spoke. “Oh, I don’t know about the lack of need for it. Most of the ships I’ve been on would have would have made good use for a forensic specialist. Even outside of security, I can think of a number of things a forensic scientist would cone in handy with. I mean, I would assume your training in comparative DNA analysis alone would make up for the lack of crime scenes you may be called to.” and he smiled broadly and said “But again… barely got past Organic Chem.”
Hammor, Ops
Stark smiled, “Personally, I like to use chemistry to blow things up. Fun times”.
Stark Nightstalker CIO
Hammor chuckled. “Well, now I know to double check any requisitions I get from you, don’t I?” and he smiled in good natured jesting.
